Someone tell me they are into these blokes.

Darky? Anyone? Swedish power metal group, with a few blokes from Hammerfall. Honeslty, my first real foray into the genre, but **** me if it isn't awsome.

"Aweking the World" was described as possibly the greatest metal debut of all time, and IMO "Flame to the Ground Beneath" is better.

Anyone?

Okay, a couple of weeks down the track and I've secured a loan of the CD off your good self.

It's very good, but I stand by my earlier comments that don't have quite a standout sound, as most power metal bands have a high standard of musicianship & vocals, and have similar influences within the genre. It means that many bands sound very same-ish, and few stand out above the rest.

Without intending to label Lost Horizon as unoriginal in any way, I did find them to remind me a bit of two different bands. Vocally they are very reminiscent of Italian power metal band Rhapsody (singer : Fabio Lione, who is also in Vision Divine), and instrumentally their combination of guitar and synthesizer reminds me a lot of Children Of Bodom's Follow The Reaper album.

As for the greatest metal debut album of all time, it's quite hard to go past Hammerfall's Glory To The Brave.
