Fletcher has been an under rated champion, good to see him get some recognition. No Watson in the squad is a joke, somebody needs to show them the St Kilda game...

Good to finally see fletcher get some recognition because he has been fantastic this year. You would've thought that watson in the midfield or even lovett in the foward line could have been named but at least we have a player in the squad this year unlike last year :o
Must have been close, but you can't argue those selections.
LOOOOOOOl. Fletch in over Watson? No offence to Fletch, but he did miss like 5 games in the middle of the season...
Great to see Fletcher named in the squad.
It's a pretty good squad although a couple of players are getting selected on past glories and one or two good games this year rather than consistant high performances this year.

It's pretty funny after all the years Fletch was shafted by a biased panel that he gets in this year.

Watson would be in my AA 22 he's been that good. Can't see how they could omit them. Sorry though, but I think Fletcher being named is as big a disgrace as Watson not being named

Fletcher has been our best and most consistent player this year without any doubt.

I would have thought Fletch would have been about 50% chance to make it, but thoroughly deserves.
Watson IMO was about 75% to get in so very surprised he didn't make it.
Jobe Watson

Dane Swan in the forward line?
Good to see Fletch make it in. Don't know if he'll be able to get past Presti though.
And yes, my namesake should have made it in.
Fletcher has been our best and most consistent player this year without any doubt.
I have to agree with you on this. Fletch has been our rock.

the selectors have no idea, they do not choose watson who dominated the year for essendon but instead they include didak who played 5 good games for the year, also they put dane swan in the foward line who spent most of his game time in the midfield, they also choose stevie johnson who did not play a decent game since round 12. i reckon being part of the all australian team means nothing.
What is the point really of the All-Australian team? They dont play a game, and its entirely subjective depending on the selectors.
Completely meaningless and worthless title.

One of the biggest individual honours a player can get is to be named the best in the competition in their playing possition.
While I think Watson has had a great year and should have been named in the 40, I don't think it's outrageous when looking at the midfielders in there, except for Didak, but I'd have put Swan in there instead so yeah Jobe hasn't been hard done by.
Big ups to Fletch being named, I think he's got a real good chance of making the 22.
I don't think Bolton, Mackie or Franklin were anywhere near AA this year.

I'd have Watson in over Pendlebury and Didak for sure.
What?! No Jobe Watson?? Not even in the squad?!
That's absolutely unbelievable. :thumbsd:
I hope everyone who is slagging off the AA selectors realise that James Hird is one of them.

Watson was worthy of the AA squad this year
Like last years ommision of Hillie, it is a glaring reminder why I dont care about these lists..
In any case, congrats Fletch - your a gem and remain one, good to get some recognition
What is the bigger surprise ?
Hille not being named in the squad in 2008 or Fletcher being named in the squad in 2009.

There are times when I think the AA selection is done based on reputation, not current performance.
I would of thought Watson would of made the 40 and i'm really suprised that Fletch made it. Good on him.

I mustnt have watched enough Geelong games but I thought Mackie was in danger of getting dropped in the first half of the year. Could find a place for Pears but Watson probably wouldnt push any of those guys out.

Ageed...Watson not far behind though.
And to those who say Pears has been better than the Fletch, i think you're underrating the dusty one's year...has been brilliant.:thumbsu:

Can't complain with Jobe not making it. He had a few down games and also other games where he did sfa due to playing injured.
He will make the final 22 next season.
