I suppose the idea was based on world cup performances.

Poor spelling aside thats the team I would go with. I've basically picked the players that wont be overawed by the aussies and have some ticker. Vaughan is untested at ODI but has the potential and I was seriously considering Stewart as the 'keeper  The tales a bit long but if the top order don't fire there something terribly wrong.
Here's a team that would give the winning 11 a run for their money:
Langer J
Waugh M
Maher J
Clarke M
Waugh S
Campbell R
Watson S
Warne S
Williams B
Gillespie J
Bracken N

My Team:
Sachin Tendulkar
Herschelle Gibbs
Jacques Kallis
Ramnaresh Sarwan
Youssuf Yohana
Rahul Dravid
Kumar Sangakarra
Shaun Pollock (c)
Shoaib Akhtar
Makhaya Ntini
Muttiah Murilitharan
Zaheer Khan (12)
Gibbs, Tendulkar, Pollock and Murali to seam to be regulars in everyones team. Kallis (3 times), Sarwan (1), Youhana (0), Dravid (1), Sangakarra (1), Akhtar (1), Ntini (0) don't seem to be appearing much, which is a bit unusual i would've thought, particularly Kallis and Akhtar.
If you look at the batting stats from the last 2 years, go to http://www.wisden.com/wizard/bat.asp?select=odibat&pagesize=25&qual01=mat&qualfrom01=10&orderby=ave&spanfrom01=01+Jan+2001&matchtype=2&whichpage=1
if i copied that link properly it will show the leading batting averages from 2001, 2002 and the first 3 months of 2003. (interesting to note Mark Waugh tops it).
Ramnaresh Sarwan is second, while Tendulkar is third. Fourth to Seventh is all taking by Aussies - Lehmann, Martyn, Bevan, Hayden.
Yousuf Youhana is in 9th.
That is why it was so suprising to see very few mentioins of Youhana and Sarwan.
If the link doesn't work, tell me and i'll post the top 20 or so.

Sarwan has to be in there. I don't think many people have seen much of him. He is one of the top players around atm.

I'd definitely have the Turbinator in there. One of the few bowlers from the past few years that seemed to make the Aussie's top order look a bit shakey.
He was not terribly influential during the world cup but we could hardly put a bat on him during that last tour of India.
Using the same logic I'd drag VVS Laxman from wherever he currently is and put the pads on.
