Just heard on the radio that Cooley will be Coaching the side for the last 4 games of the ODI series, as Nielsen wants to spend more time at home with his family.

This is a joke, right?

If he's not capable of committing the time required to do the job, he shouldn't be in it. Jesus, it's not like he's doing a great job to start with.

Did they say if there was an illness or something at home? I can understand if that's the case, but otherwise, it's the job he signed up for.

Hilditch hasn't been over yet, Ponting's not there, and now Nielsen's home sick.

Is Cricket Australia just the softest employer in Australia???
What are we even doing over there if we can't even be bothered?

* mind you, without those 3 - we can't lose!!!!

I just read the article on cricinfo. You've got to be ****ing kidding. If there is an illness then fine, otherwise it is a complete joke. I wonder what he thought the job requirements were when he signed up  I'm sure that is why Tom Moody refused the position.

Pretty pissweak.

Would've been better if they sent him home because he seems to be crap at his job.

Hard to believe we extended his contract so easily.

That's ridiculous. It looks really bad after losing the Ashes that the coach is going home.

Fair enough that he has a desire to be with his young family, but surely he should have considered that when he went into the job. Why can't his family go over there?

It looks poor and unprofessional.

He only talks a good talk anyway, can't coach for craps. Can't believe they gave John B the amount of crap he got and this bloke's getting away with it by doing a worse job

Personally, I think it's good news.

Because, if Tim was always in a different continent to the Australian team it would be a good thing.

Nice to see you back from Siberia Elvis.

Fair call; Nielsen's masterstroke as our Coach could be leaving them alone and having as little input as possible ;)

And cheers mate; I made a smart arse remark on the Power board, which wasn't meant to be offensive, but given the climate there after the loss to the Kangas, I got carded; probably fair enough.

Absolutely disgraceful!

Imagine if an AFL coach decided mid season to have a 4 week holiday - he'd be crucified.

It shows extremely poor leadership, particularly to a team seemingly lacking direction.

How does a coach get a gig with such a directionless approach? Are we going to rejuvenate the squad with youth, are we going to play the experienced players, are we going to dwell on middle of road hacks like Manou, McDonald and Hauritz or are we going to have a hybrid of the three?

Do we have any future planning at all? Seems like the hybrid to me. Looks a good option for achieving mediocrity

And people wonder why we are tumbling down the international rankings in all forms of the game.

Players these days are very soft, seems the administrators have caught the same disease.

Why can't he just go home permanently? It's not like he does anything for Australia anyway.

absolutely. i just have the feeling we've lost the plot in all forms of the game. i think we're over coached. huss for sure has all the signs of a natural talent whose had too much technical bullshit rammed down his throat. now hes like a rabbit in the headlights.

nielsen is tainted by buchananitus i reckon. too much fancy bs. we got away with it when we had a great team but now we need a meat and potatoes coach.

CA are a f'ing joke

How can the coach just bail 3/4 of the way through a tour. If you can't do the schedule, don't take the job FFS

I'd like some more family time, too. I might just go to work on Monday and Tuesday this week.

was an easy job when you had guys like Warne etc, as soon as it gets hard this guy wants to nick off.

As warnie said, a coach is the thing that gets you to and from the game. Beyond that the players can work it out. Buchanan was alright in that he worked mainly on getting the guys into the right mind space, some guys didn't like it, (warne, mcgill etc, one of the few things they saw eye to eye on) but guys like JL and Haydos loved it.

Something about Nielson...I don't know what, for sure, but let's just say he doesn't seem to add any stability tothe team./

Generally, the Australian Captain has generally been the main man; there are rumblings that since Nielsen's appointment, this is no longer the case.

i think ever since White toured India everyone was suspecting Punter wasn't that keen on the team that got picked.

I see NZ now have Vettori as a genuine selector. Very interesting.

You have my sympathy. I got a week after saying my piece about the Buddy Bump on the Hawthorn board. Folks are awful sensitive around these parts. :p

If you are visiting another team’s home then you must treat that team and their fans with respect.

Any BS or smart arse behaviour and you will get an instant boot up the bum. Plenty of room on Bay 13 and the main board if you want a bit of banter.

Without going too much further OT, I'm aware of that, I discussed it with the Mod, and it was a lot to do with the mood on their board following a pretty bad loss, my comment in normal circumstances wasn't that bad, but, as I said, I can appreciate they need to be a bit over-the-top sometimes.

Yeah mate no problems. A lot of absolute idiots head straight for the team boards after a loss trying to stir up trouble. It’s a hell of a lot quicker just to give someone a card rather than trying to figure out if they were just trying to be funny or not. Do it all the time myself. ;)

You need to be extra careful in those situations.
