Can Brisbane match it with the big guns?

I think not.

Sure Brisbane can mix it with teams like Freo and Port. But Brisbane does not have the ability to match it with the big boys like Essendon and Carlton. Brisbane players looked second rate against these teams last year, and the gap between them is too large to narrow within a year.

Brisbane to be blown out of the water against Essendon and any other half decent team this year. Will be lucky to make the top 4.

I think so...conditionally.

I rate Brisbane ahead of any club in the league, bar Essendon, on talent. It's in the intestinal and mental fortitude departments where we lagged behind last year.

I'm not convinced by the coaching department either, to tell you the truth.

Still, the areas of concern from my point of view are more easily addressable than an inherent lack of ability.

Lions, on song, are a definite top 2 contender.

The Lions MUST win a final ( or any game ) at the MCG. Not only must they win but they must win going away - so they can feel what it's like ( and also make an old man very happy ! ) They looked perplexed and confused V Blues - they must feel confident and determined.

Last year, was last year.
This is a brand new year, and I think the guys can give this thing a good darn shake.
Their all rearing to go, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Ghost seems to have a short memory. Remember '99? We beat Carlton down here pretty comfortably and then thrashed them in the final. We had our chances in the Essendon game as well.
Whats changed? Keating was missing for a start - and then the off-field probs. I think that at full strength, and with their mind on the jobs - we can definately beat Carlton on any given day, and be at least more competitive than last year aganist Essendon. Heres hoping anyway!!
