I found it interesting comparing our round 1 lineup from last year to that of today. All together we had 6 different players this year around. On paper this years side looks a lot better than last years.

1R: 4. Matthew Clarke _ 36. Simon Goodwin _ 23. Andrew Mcleod

35. Rhett Biglands _ 26. Mark Bickley _ 18. Graham John**** _ 33. Brent Reilly

There are 6 different players this year that have played in round 1: Carey, Ladhams, Torney, Mattner, McGregor and Reilly.

From last years side Fitzgerald and Johnson are no longer with us and Welsh has missed this year through injury. Doughty was a bit stiff getting dropped and Schell and Nelson aren't good enough to make the side. We kicked a bigger score this time around. Our forward line looked a lot more potent and our midfield looks just as good.

In : _____________________Out:
Carey ______________ Fitzgerald
McGregor _____________ Schell
Torney _______________ Johnson
Mattner ______________ Nelson
Reilly ________________ Doughty
Ladhams _____________ Welsh

It looks like we have REALLY improved:D

Overall the forwardline looked a lot more potent, Carey just gives that presence we've been missing. The players around him just seemed more confident especially Perrie and Bode.
Last Year Fitzgerald and Schell were our big "saviours" both were , unfortunately, not all they were cracked up to be. Not so this year in Carey and Torney.

Johnson is the only major loss from that team, hopefully he won't hurt us too much when we play Richmond!

Welsh hopefully will be back soon

Big improvement Stiffy, big improvement.

Fitzy, Schell and Nelson in the one side is a bit scary looking back on it.

While Johnson is a loss, we have the replacements to more than cover that - IMO Edwards was our best player in Johnson's role, while Torney was in my best 3.

Carey was terrific. Enough said.

McGregor held CHB very comfortably, while Ladhams as always adds something to the midfield.

Reilly is a star of the future.

Mattner had problems with Medhurst, who is a class act, and troubles most.

As I said, a big improvement.

If we can go through the year without seeing the name "Nelson" in the team list, I'll be happy.
