Anyone got any of the Lost series on Blu Ray? Worth the price or not?

Definitely a substantial upgrade when compared with the DVDs, season 1 is one of the best looking Blu Rays I own, the special features are a little underwhelming though. I personally would pay retail price for season 1 because its so good, Season 2 and 4 I would wait for a price drop.
More than $100 for a single season of a TV show you have already seen... are you nuts?

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting season 4 on blu-ray, think i'll just wait a while so that price can come down from 90-100 bucks

Amazon FTW (Assuming it's region free)

Surely they could fit more than one season onto a Blu-Ray?
Isn't one of the major upsides to Blu-Rays the amount of data they can hold? Seems like a massive rip off to me.
I think in America blu-rays are only slightly more expensive than DVDs. Here you're looking at $40 for a blu-ray movie and $20 for the DVD.
Perhaps try UK, I think we're in the same region as them. Unlike DVDs where we were in the same region as South America.

Season 1 and 2 of Lost are region free so you could get them from Amazon. However Seasons 3 and 4 are region locked.

High definition video takes up much more space than standard definition.

Surely not 50gb worth of it?

Not sure why you are so obsessed with the number of discs it is released on, BR is more indicative of the image format than anything else.
BR is the only format that supports HD, and whilst HD does take up substantially more space than mpeg2 DVD, you are being charged extra because it is in HD not because of the type of physical disc.
The general consensus at the moment is "HD is better so we'll charge more for it"... and when you have fools stupid enough to pay > $100 for a single season of TV they've already seen it kind of makes commercial sense.

I'm not obsessed with the number of discs it is released on. But logic would say if you could fit more seasons into one disc (which I figured would be a main benefit of BR; I don't use them so I don't know) than you could effectively pay less money. Obviously not though.
The physical discs cost absolutely bugger all, it is the HD format you are paying extra for.
Not sure exactly how much space HD takes up per hour, but my BR recorder consumes around 7GB of disk space per hour of HD (1080p) recording.
BR should be able to hold more HD content than DVD holds mpeg2 content, but the difference is nowhere near as great as you may think.
