OK, we need to decide what to do wih the best rookie voting. With our depth this year, it is unlikely that we will have 3 rookies to vote for each week & we may end up giving votes to those not worthy with a bad perfromance. ie. last years criteria - ie. any player under 23 who has played less than a season worth of games, only the following qualify:

Bock, Nathan
Hentschel, Trent
Jericho, Luke
Mattner, Martin
Reilly, Brent
Rutten, Ben
Schuback, Jacob
Smith, Matthew

Options as I see it are:
1. Just award 1 rookie a vote each week as per sapaul's suggestion.
2. Change the eligibility to say up to 50 games say, which would allow a few more players like Stiffy to be eligible (otherwise it is likely to become the Reilly award the way things are looking).

I voted for change it to just one vote.

Although this may make it the Reilly award, I think it is now unreasonable to call players like John(ock rookies.

I don't want to see the criteria changed. Stiffy was a rookie last year, but he's got a full season and a finals campaign under his belt now.

There's a few around with less than 50 games - Crowell, Doughty, Marsh, Perrie, Schell, Shirley, Ladhams, Gallagher - but is it really fair to the likes of Reilly and Mattner to rate their performances as rookies to a number of players who have been through a tough finals campaign and are borderline seasoned players?

I think we could do the rookies in a similar way that Channel 9 do their best player thing. Is someone lists the eligible players we could give them a rating out of 5 or 10.

E.G. I gave Mattner 2 just because noone else was eligible (and by the way Jars it wasn't because I'm a Sturt supporter, it was because I must have been ****ed). If it was out of 10, I would have given Reilly 5 and Mattner 1. So each rookie gets rated independant of how the other rookies play.

Forget that idea. Just thought it through and we'd have to have the same number of voters each week.

Carry on.

Should be just one player getting the vote.

Too many times last year players got votes and they did nothing.

Looks like 1 vote for the week is the go. My 1 is obviously for Reilly then.

Unless there is a dramatic turn around in this poll, 1 vote will be the go in 2003.
