Andrew Flintiff has rejected a central contract with England and would like to play as a freelancer in the IPL, Australia, England, South Africa etc. he has a IPL contract and apparently one of the states in Australia have almost signed him as have South Africa (or at the very least are very interested).

Incidently the IPL may cop its blame by many but it has apparently removed the loophole to allow this to happen meaning Flintiff could be not allowed to play unless England agree to get rid of this sort of thing happening. Article below.

1. It's Flintoff.

2. He wants to be a money-whore, but who could blame him? He's retired from Test matches and I'd be doing the same thing if I was him. He'd get to play all over the world and avoid the grueling schedule that comes with it because he's only playing Twenty20 Cricket but making God only knows how much.

Wonder which state?

Would that be purely for twenty20, or possibly for all forms?

"We were negotiating with South Australia and the Durban team, the Nashua Dolphins."It would be T20 only, you can't play in South Africa and Australia if you're playing everything.

Can't blame Flintoff. He says he still wants to play ODI and T20I cricket, just doesn't want the ECB controlling everything else he does.

From my understanding the ECB It trying to add to the controlls they have on their players. Freddie has proved he cares about playing for England. He said he still wants to but is capable of making his own decisions. I agree with him!
If ECB want him that much, they can pay for it.

Would love for Flintoff to come to Queensland for the T20 Big Bash...if he happens to be fit.

Especially with his close friendship with Law and playing at Lancashire together and playing in the IPL with Hayden.

Anyways Good on Flintoff for being independent and not letting England control him by being a freelancer. :thumbsu:

I'm actually surprised Flintoff will possibly be coming to the Redbacks, out of all teams. I thought he would have gone to a strong, successful team like New South Wales or Victoria, there must be a reason why he's coming to the Redbacks though, anyone know what it is?

No. Bushrangers.

This to me is not in the traditional spirit of cricket though I think its heading in a direction that cricket should go. I would love to see a Football style competition like the EPL and then having internationals as a highlight.
