View Full Version : P Burgoyne
According to ABC radio this morning, P Burgoyne is to face the tribunal on a striking charge. This was from the marking contest in the second (?) quarter which contributed to the WC supporters booing everybody in a teal guernsey all afternoon.
Now I thought it was more of a marking contest than a charge, but considering the pillow-fluffiness of the rest of the umpiring for the day it was to be expected I guess.
Looks like I wont be watching AFL this weekend, with this following on from the Everitt report for having an umpire in his way while trying to earn a living, it'll be more like a game that should be called Australian Rules Handbag.
At least we wont have to wear the away skirts.

Channel 9 who have the live rights up here for the game aren't showing it until 10:30pm after a repeat movie - even the replay on Austar starts at 10:00pm.
I've put all the contacts to complain to in the email that went out earlier.

So Burgs has been reported for what amounted to little more than an attempted spoil from the side. What a joke.
I see on the main board that Brad Scott has been reported for striking Peverill following an investigation by Rick Lewis. I assume that means Peverill has dropped him in it so it's likely Scott will get games.

How far out of town do you have to be before you are allowed to tap into it?

Imparja isn't allowed in Darwin metro area I believe.....I'm pretty sure Batchelor have it and I know Adelaide River do as the first couple of years I was here we used to regularly go down there to watch the footy on Friday nights.........very impressive pub and meal.......

It's on Imparja at 7pm.
You are allowed to "tap into it" if your terrestrial reception aint up to scratch, or you take the unencrypted feed from B1.

There's a fair chance I may just do that.........will let you know later in the week.
Do you know what they charge for a mini bus to go out your way from town/Casuarina way.........there could be a few interested people if you've got the room and don't mind.
Apparently we have cut a deal [Eagles and Port] to give favourable evidence in each other's trials [Ben and Peter]. None of this Peter Bell rubbish :D
If that is charging then every player that goes into a marking contest without looking at the ball must be charged.
Williams would have gone berzerk if Burgoyne hadn't gone for that ball. Burgoyne had more chance of getting hurt than Wilson did.
I think I've worked out the charging rule. Apparently it's similar to the rule in soccer which says you're not allowed to make body contact with the goalkeeper while your feet are off the ground. Or maybe it's like the one in basketball where you cannot be contacted from the front if you have both of your feet down. But it's more likely it's just decided on the flip of the coin. Or maybe the umpires have tarot card readings before laying charges.
 :p

I paid 50 skinnys for a cab from the city to home when I was blotto.. I'm sure you could cut a minicab deal in and out tho. What about hiring one and having a sober bob??
I got stacks of room here anyway, can even run a cable out the front to the spa and sit in there all night watching the footy. (Does someone wanna ask Wayne if he wants to come along???)

I was thinking we should be able to get a deal for about $60-70 return and I have a few contacts from when I didn't have a licence a while ago.
I'll let you know Thurs/Fri what's happening as at the moment I'm too stunned from Burgoyne getting 2 weeks.........what a joke the charging rule and tribunal are............

Many years ago I was working for a bank in Coober Pedy when we actually regularly used the paddy wagons as taxis to get around or to order some more take away to be picked up from th pub.
Even used to have a Sunday session in the outdoor cells they had where we were locked in until the kegs and spirits were empty................never met a bigger mob of ****heads/party animals than the cops that were there during my 12 months there.........but it was a great experience for a young 17yo lad...........:D

Exactly. Probably the most courageous thing i've seen Peter Burgoyne do. He was the one at risk of being hurt. Wilson's 20 odd kg's heavier and was running at full pace, suprising he didn't knock Peter into the middle of next week.
Hope they appeal this decision, absolute joke it was.
