Cheers CJ, was about to start a thread.

Don't know whether Fergie needed a rest; but Hilfy brought in specifically to make sure he's had a game in the leadup to the Champs Trophy.

Strauss won the toss again, Poms bowling. Surely Punter needs to start checking the coins used! ;)

Hilfy gets a run eh? Interesting.

7 nil just to rub it in please Aussies.

Watson edges to slip, gone for a quacker

1/0

BTW - why the **** has Ferguson been dropped? I don't see the point .. or is it a rest? And if so why hasn't ****in Hussey been rested? How can he keep his place??

Fergs our best one day batter atm. It would only be a rest

20 Sep 2009, 19:22
It better only be a rest. Dam didn't get to see Watson unleash with the bat.

20 Sep 2009, 19:24
Farout, stupid rotation policy.

Its the only thing stopping us from a 7-0 whitewash.

How did Watson go out? I was finding a stream and missed it.

20 Sep 2009, 19:31
Not the start we would've hoped for. Have hardly watched this series so I'll be hoping that Punter can knuckle down and produce a big knock.

The match is being broadcast on SBS. Don't you have access to a TV?

Haha yeah I forgot about that until I realised my stream was actually SBS. :p

Poor start from the Aussies, 2 early wickets and not many runs. Good bowling from England though. Hardly a bad ball.
2/24 after 7 overs.
Hope Hus gets amongst the runs!

alfy!
20 Sep 2009, 20:03
Not a good start, these two need to consolidate at a good rate.

Zacisonfire
20 Sep 2009, 20:15
Whats with Clarke's slow strike rate? Not installing confidence for T20 captaincy for me will probably get it tho... I also hope Huss gets some more suns today looked good last innings scoring a run a ball done well...

Biggie
20 Sep 2009, 20:24
Good consolidation lads.

Wowee good fielding Collingwood

Clarke is sending me to sleep.

Clarke is sending me to sleep.

Same.

I guess the state of the game and the couple of early wickets justify a bit of consolidation, but it's still a very low S/R with that taken into account.

Clarke is putting pressure on punter with his slow scoring.

50(57) for the little Aussie Battler.

He has looked a little pale, especially in comparison to his former self.

Well batted Punter :thumbsu:

OzBomber
20 Sep 2009, 20:52
Anyone else here think the should take the batting powerpla now? We're only 2 down, both batsman are in and have faced over 60 balls each. Could also help Pup boost his runrate. That way we get this session of 5 over to score some quick runs AND we get the final 5 overs where everyone slogs anyway. I still don't understand why captains leave it for the final 5 overs.

20 Sep 2009, 20:52
Such a poor game to watch, not the best pitch to be batting on but Clarke is making it look a whole lot harder than what Ponting is.

I don't think I can remember a series that has been so tame and devoid of interest as this has been.

Clarke run out

crowsarethebest
20 Sep 2009, 21:11
Thank **** Clarke is gone. Seriously, he needs to up his run rate, he is a liability when he bats so slowly. No chance of a big total. Everyone else seems to be scoring fine. He just can't hit the gaps now.

Zacisonfire
20 Sep 2009, 21:12
That could be a blessing in descise...

Clarke is putting pressure on punter with his slow scoring.

Although he is out now, he was playing a part.

No point in going for 350 when we have seen that 250 will be a target we can defend against this rabble.

Ferguson out and the middle order is back to being a disgrace.

Johnson and Lee will need to smoke it in the powerplay to get us to a decent total.

Subaru Impreza
20 Sep 2009, 21:43
clarke isnt good enough to play T20's in my opinion.

He is our version of Rahul Dravid, the quicker he goes, the better our chances of winning. (for both 50 overs and 20 over format)

Id rather watch paint dry then Clarke bat

20 Sep 2009, 22:44
thought punter said we'd play our strongest team for this game to secure the whitewash. so where's ferguson? or is this what our panel of idiots consider our strongest team? take a big effort from here

Uselss batting performance.

Annoyed with Hussey, sure he's not to blame for today's disaster, but he threw away 5 overs with a shockingly soft dismissal.

Johnson, are you ever going to make runs in this form of the game? Lee, you might as well bat at 11.

Ponting again the only one to stand up. Clarke looked rubbish but was finally getting going until another run-out involving 'Mr. Cricket'.

Annoying seeing a hack like Swann destroy us, lets hope Hauritz lands a few good ones today and we'll be in with a shot. I can see England winning by 7-8 wickets though.

Disappointing effort with the bat and England are off to a good start. C'mon Lee, knock 'is block off :D

20 Sep 2009, 23:14
The Lee machine opened in "Pie" mode, 9 runs in total coming from the great fast bowler's first over.

Of course, the obligatory front foot no-ball is included in those figures, as was the four byes from the short ball he bowled for the free hit (Payne looked as if he was unsighted).

They said it was Lee's 13th no-ball for the series. And it looks like the younger bowlers have mirrored his bad ways, as Hilf opens with one and then shakes his head in disbelief as to how it could have happened.

OzBomber
20 Sep 2009, 23:23

sherb
20 Sep 2009, 23:34
It is hard to have any respect for an international bowler who bowls so close to the line that he bowls no-balls with such regularity.

Lee has been doing it basically all his career, and Hilfenhaus is making himself look like a prize idiot this innings.

20 Sep 2009, 23:39

Good old Junior said something like; "Swann isn't a terrible bowler... but he shouldn't take a five wicket haul in any form of the game."

Hilfy, for mine, is a Test Bowler; if Stuart Clark isn't considered right for ODIs, I don't see how Hilfy is.

Denly is a good find for England. Massive fan already. His technique is very very good, please extremely well straight and uncomplicated. Sure, slight problem with the closed face but that's probably more to do with how he grip his bat. Everything else is perfect. They have to stick with him and watch him score runs, a real beauty
