Cold Chisel comeback April 02, 2003

LEGENDARY Australian band Cold Chisel will reunite to perform two special in-the-round concerts at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on June 3 and 4. Known as Ringside, the two shows see the band play in a more intimate setting, with the furthest seat being no more than 25m from the stage.

The idea came from the small stage six-song bracket the band performed during its Last Wave of Summer tour in 1998.

The two shows take the idea one major step further – turning it into a 2 ½ hour showcase of the band's back catalogue.

"So far we've done two weeks of casual rehearsals at my place, and already the band has a swing about it that it didn't have the last time we played together," regular Confidential reader Jimmy Barnes said.

I'm excited! Can't wait for June, I will be booking my flights to Sydney ASAP! If I hear anything else Chisel fans I will let you know!

cheers

At the risk of letting that little piece of bogan inside me being exposed, keep us posted Jerome. I'd be there in a flash.

COLD CHISEL ANNOUNCE "RINGSIDE" SHOWS Cold Chisel have today announced two concerts “in the round” at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, on the 3rd and 4th June. The concerts, to be known as "Ringside", will give audiences an unprecedented 360 degree view of the band, with the furthest seat being less than 30 metres from the stage. The staging will combine the ambience of a boxing ring and the historic reunion of Elvis Presley with his original band for the Elvis '68 TV special. As with the Presley special, Ringside will be filmed and recorded. The Ringside idea was born from the small stage bracket of the Last Wave Of Summer tour in 1998, where the band played a five or six songs each night from a small stage set deep in the audience. These shows will extend the intimacy and the energy of that concept to two and a half hours, showcasing favorites, new songs, songs that have rarely been performed, solo songs and songs by other people that have been important to the band. The band sees the shows as a one-off special event. There are no plans for further shows in any other city. WATCH THE CHISEL WEBSITE www.coldchisel.com.au for a special ticket announcement.
