But TOMORROW night in that very timeslot they have one of the great Australian movies - "The Money Movers". half the cast of Skippy, Bargearse, Jason Donovan's dad, Bud Tingwell, the judge from New Faces, Beau from the Beaurepairs ad and Bryan Brown in an ultra-violent armoured car robbery flick.
An all time classic and Aussie pulp cinema at its very best.

I may have trumpeted a tad prematurely just then. Teev Week has The Club in its listings; the local rag has some other fillum on in that particular timeslot.
Which one is right? Who knows.

The Club is definately on next Thursday night - the ABC sent through their program listing to me yesterday and its definately on - I've included it in my tv entertainment column, so it had better be on.
The Club may not be on as advertised. The ABC have been showing BBC war coverage every night after LateLine.

It probably depends on what stage the war is at. I suspect that they will show the movie, then go to the BBC coverage straight after. That's pretty much what they have been doing for the last week and a half.
Coincidentally, the last time 'The Club' was scheduled on the ABC, it was delayed for a couple of weeks because of the blanket coverage of the S11 attacks.

This movie must have a curse. ;)
The last thing this country needs to see at the moment is a bloke named John Howard wearing a Collingwood jumper.
That would be a Weapon of Mass Disfunction.

There wasn't any BBC war coverage on the ABC last night (Rage was shown instead) - it looks a certainty that the film will be shown unless there are drastic events in the war.
HS Tv guide gave it 1 star!

Clarke Forbes is a hack reviewer, more concerned with delivering a clever one-liner that makes himself look good then providing the reader with any insight about a film.

Clarke Forbes up there with Andre Bazin when you compare him Leigh Patsch, who expends more energy concocting a rotten pun for the opening description than actually putting thought into his review.

Watched it last night. Cant believe I have never seen this movie. All star cast and Beau playing the doey standover man.
Good too see some of old sydney as well. Violent flick with a very real violent ending.
Top movie and it was made in 1978.

I watched the Club. Wasn't half bad, although I have to say for 1980, it doesn't age well. I would have guessed about mid-70s from the grainy quality of the film and some of the haircuts.
I enjoyed the mock Grand Final scene, if only because Fitzroy was involved.
