I am having trouble picking a winner here.

My heart says Dees, but my brain says Bombers.

I think it will be real close :

Dees by 8 pts.

What do you all think?

Heart says dees by 6 goals.
Head says dees by 8 goals :)

We will **** it in.

Their forwardline is a joke, their backline has no run, and their midfield has lost 3 of its biggest stars.... their my slider for 2003... wont finish above 9th.

Hopefully

no. 5 is alive

I'm never confident against the Bombers...

Will feel better if we get Lamby back.

Anyone know how Wardy's ankle and Junior's head have pulled up?

Dees.

I think Essendon will struggle in the ruck & I can't see Lloyd getting much help up forward.

Always close these games.

Thats because he won't be needing it! ;)

I would think a very close one.

We sometimes get close to the Bombers, and then there's times when we just let them beat us all over the field. I think its a mental thing and if we beat that, then we might just make it.

But close, very close.

He'd need to kick 8 I'd reckon. Tough ask on Lamb.

Ms.Storm

I think Lloyd will kill Lamb and if he kicks 8, and Hird fires, the Bombers will probably win. Do you think DND will throw Neita into defence if we are getting murdered?

But the *windy hole* might save us, and Lloyd might kick 8 points;)

Why is everyone being so pessimistic!?!?

Have some faith people!

Yze 30 kicks 3 goals
Neita 8 goals on fletch.
Lamby to keep Pretty boy Lloyd to 2 goals!

As I said, 8 goals... and that's being conservative :)

If we cant beat the Bombers now we will never beat them.

a forward line of cupido Lloyd rioli poor?
cupido is a star, rioli is finally showing dedication and Lloyd is well, Lloyd.
our backline with solomon and with fletch returning is decent, Lucas and Jacobs can both float from the half back to half forward depending on the situation. Our midfield only lacks run because they aren't getting the ball from the ruck, our weakness is the ruck and it is a big one. Look forward to a good game.

Nobody referred to it as poor mate.

But I do think ours has more depth. Neitz,Green,Robertson,Bruce,Moorcroft,Armstrong & Jolly Should provide plenty of problems for the likes of Fletcher,Solomon,Jacobs & McPhee (whoever he is!)

And when you add the polished finishing of Yze & Johnstone in midfield, plus the added knowledge of the "City end goal" ;) We have reason for optimism.

Cupido a star?
Couldn't get a game in Brisbane, but he's played one game for your mob and he's a star? Just like those 26 odd players in 2000 who were stars, just because they were in that side. Tell me, how many of those 'stars' are still hanging around windy hill???

mate, the main reason he didnt get a game with Brisbane is because of his shocking run with injuries...he played a blinder against the Lions, and your lot will learn the hardway just how good he is.

Bombers by 30+

No, Neitz won't be thrown into defence, he is dominating in the forward line what would be the point. A bit of optimism please! ;)

demons will win by about 20 pts, not only do we have a better forward line, plane and simply u dont have a ruckman, hille showed promise but has done crap all since, alessio would should have retired 3 years ago.

but the bombers will not be as bad this year as everyone thinks, there is still alot of class in that side.

aparently hird has withdrawn, personally i hope he plays and nd gives bruce that task, because i think he is a perfect match for him, and by kicking hirds @$#$ the whole footy world will realise what a great player he is.....

dees by 20 moorcroft to kick 5 and heffernan best on ground (stick it up sheeds)

here's an interesting question for you all to ponder... who had more influence on the game - james hird or david neitz? I'd say neitz...but only just

yeah, the coleman medalist really shone today, we just couldn't stop him, totally outplayed our poor backline. and the impotent forwardline was another reason for our poor perfomance, our ruck is ****, we're on the slide. any more wise comments? i'd take our list over the demons anyday,
one word - SCOREBOARD
and we're just warming up, back in the four where we belong!

Ponder this - the only reason you stopped Neitz was because you played 4 people on him every time he got near the ball. But then again, 4 is about your IQ.

We can warm up pal - this is our board. Would you like us to start making you look like a fool, or would you just like to have a go at that one yourself?

You won the game, good on you. 4 to stop Neitz and better disposal than us - yeah, the Bombers are really back!

well according to BT, melbourne have terrific depth in foward line stocks, more depth then essendon even, and i agree they dees do have some fantastic players. What I cant understand, and maybe mr cowboy can help me out here, if there were four people on Neitz every time he got near the ball, and time and time again he struggled to win a contested mark, why did the melbourne players keep on passing the ball to him? Now call me crazy kids, but with a foward line with the depth they apparently posses, why did simply stopping one player see the demons struggle for goals? Why did they time and time again pass the ball to a guy who didn't get a kick for three quarters? I'm no AFL coach, but i think i have a cunning ploy, devious scheme and a mischevious plan that dees could've used, maybe you guys can let Neale know of this: If Player A hasn't taken a mark in three quarters and is getting soundly beaten everytime the ball is passed toward him, pass to somone else other than Player A. It's pretty simple plan really - dont pass to the guy with four players on him. Green,Robertson,Bruce,Moorcroft,Armstrong, Jolly... with four players supposodley on neitz, three of them must have been free... or maybe the inability of those players to capitalize on the bombers zoning off is a reflection of a Neitz centeric melbourne foward line? If that's the case, you have a problem, cause when you face sides with stronger midfields/ruck divisions, the demons wont be supplying to the foward 50 as often as they did yesterday, and if those sides manage to cover Neitz, you might struggle to kick goals

I never said Dees were outcouched or that we should have won by 15 goals.

also anyone saying that Neitz had 4 players on him is making excuses.
I just think we handled the conditions better at the city end as I think that was the difference in the result.

Hello and welcome to ********ville, population: YOU.

I am guessing you didn't read his post properly, yes? You said Deestroy was being "gracious in defeat", but being sarcastic no doubt. He then replied by saying that, in a earlier post, he had said that we were outcoached and were lucky not to be beaten by 15 goals.

Not everything is about you.

Your misunderstanding, you accuse me of not being gracious in defeat, I was the one that said the Dees were outcoached and that the Dons shouldhave won by 15 goals. Now show me where I wasn't gracious.

You have to read it in context with the quote "So gracious in defeat." I replied with "Saying we were outcoached and that you should have won by 15 goals? Yeah I would have thought so... " (as in yes I was gracious in defeat)

So yes, your mistake.
