There's just so many.
My favourites from Neighbours were from the football story line.
Especially when they all sang the team song at Bridget's funeral
And from Home and Away, last night's episode was a good example when Miles was drinking a juice and you could hear the air being sucked through the straw:rolleyes: (it's always to hard for them to put at least water in their cups)
What are everyone elses?

bouncer knocking that old lady of the ladder and licking her then she forgot who everyone was.
or cody being shot during a police raid looking for drug dealers i think it was

When Toadie and that character played by Madeleine West got married, their limo broke down so they got into that shitbox Commodore and, for whatever reason, went off a strategically placed ramp and into the ocean.
Emmy award winning stuff.

on neighbours when 2 characters got a trial with carlton after obviously impressing for erinsborough in the random victorian league
that whole rugby debacle with the home and away character underperforming for a shady bookmaker, i didnt realise there was such betting interest in a random rugby competition in country nsw
any sport played on any these shows really
I love when they play a game of football on these shows. Looks like they're playing on half an Aus Kick oval.

Lousy writers...
any sport played on any these shows really
this really annoys me. we know our sport in this country and they just cant be bothered doing it properley.
cricket- the keeper will be right at the stumps, plus every fielder will be within 2m of the bat
footy- as someone else mentioned, its worse than an under 8's vickick match
surfing- "it going off today", while half a foot of pus breaks in the background

any story line on neighbours involving zeke is pretty vomit inducing
Zekes general lack of acting talent is vomit inducing. I know its a big call given all the shit these shows have rolled out but Zeke is the worst actor/actress in Australian television history. Couldnt act his way out of a a toilet paper prison cell

Anyone else noticing the "subtle" plugs these days. First we had the Jason Coleman dance school and then last night we had the NCIS plug.

I remember one episode, Harold fell down a sand dune or something and they replaced him with a stunt double who had a pony tail.
the continual rehashed story arcs
-runaway kid comes to town, causes some trouble, gets taken in by pippa/irene/sally/etc and becomes a model citizen.
-someones gf/bf/parent/goldfish dies, head into self destructive spiral of booze/acting up, pushes everyone away, eventually comes round and becomes a model citizen.
-someone charged with a crime they didnt commit, toadie/morag represents them and despite a chronic lack of evidence, they get jail time, spend a few weeks in jail and survive a prison riot/beat down/standover tactics, end up getting released from jail.

im glad that everyone agrees with my hatred of all things zeke, truly he is terrible. What demographic does he represent? The whiny loser wanna be "edgy" demographic? Although the fight between him and that kid that looks like the villain in dirty harry was a laugh. Who the hell would fight over sunny? Just defies belief.
another good story arc is where given character is tempted to move to the big smoke, new york, yabbie creek etc, but is always convinced at the last moment to stay at summer bay or erinsborough and lead a comfortable middle class existence.
although any story line involving the token ethnics on these shows.alex papas anyone?

Zekes gone through 4 stages from what ive seen
Loser Zeke
Emo Zeke
Raver Zeke
Whiney Zeke
Think Whiney Zeke was the worst and Raver Zeke the best. IIRC he did have one hot girlfriend but she died after a building randomly collapsed.

I don't think she was Zeke's gf though (may have been Ringo's),but the one he did have at that time was hot. Can't recall her name but she was a cute brunette.

Either way she died and condemned Zeke to a life filled with uglies. Poor Zeke. Gets a Christmas present and then gets it snatched away the next day
oh and erinsborough/summer bay must be the only place you decide to become a teacher/get a degree/teach/become principal in about 6 months.

You forgot these repeated elements that seem to pop up every series:
Someone gets married
Someone gets divorced
Someone has a forbidden romance
Someone dies/kills someone (popular means = cliff, fire)
Two arbitrary boys have a punch up
Someone gets offered a massive promotion/unfairly sacked
Someone gets pregnant (optional: choice between baby or mother)

How about the time Clint Bizzell was on Neighbours?
When Ringo was pulled over by the cops and Ringo was panicking as he didn't have a license and Clint (can't remember his name on the show) says "don't worry mate, I've got it under control".
The cop then asks Ringo for his license, Ringo reluctantly doesn't know what to say before Big Clint saves the day by rearing his head so the cop can see him. Cop says "you're *insert name*!" then asks for an autograph and everything is fine and Ringo escapes punishment.
My other favourite cringe worthy moment was when Sunny got lost at that music festival. And don't get me started on the music festival itself, it was just too awesome to explain.
on neighbours when 2 characters got a trial with carlton after obviously impressing for erinsborough in the random victorian league
That was rediculous..i remember one of the kids telling his mum 'ive decided i wanna play AFL" like its his choice. FFS theres 5 million kids that wanna play AFL but it aint gonna happen just becuase you decide...its a little thing called the draft.
cricket- the keeper will be right at the stumps, plus every fielder will be within 2m of the bat
Quoted for accuracy!
Different show but same problem...Packed to the Rafters...seing some bloke play football in a rugby jumper but on a AFL ground with goal and point posts, which footy was he meant to be playing?

To elaborate on that, probably 15 years ago, even more now, there was the 'suspicious Asian family' whom were blamed for eating Bouncer or someones beloved pet when it ran away.
And for some of the older folk here, two words, 'Bouncer's Dream'
Oh, is it just me, I'm not good on the names on these recent characters, but is that teen with the curly hair (part of the family where the parents died), a dead ringer for Fevola?

Detective Robertson; talking to Charlie and Angelo (who are both cops), using a teddy bear (which is a security device). Claiming it's a roleplaying technique that counsellors use to help mend fractured relationships.
Waiting for one of them to slip up and admit to murdering Grant Bledcoe, who raped Charlie when she was 14 and fathered her daughter (Ruby) who grew up believing Charlie to be her older sister. :thumbsu:
I don't watch Neighbours but whenever I catch glimpses of Home & Away, I can safely say I find pretty much every single scene to be cringe-worthy.
I think what's more cringeworthy is that both these shows have been around for so long considering the story arcs and the bad scripting.
When Neighbours started i was in grade 5 and i still remember watching the early episodes on ch 7.
I'd like to add in the home and away moment of Good Girl Sally getting drunk and falling for the "ne'er do well surfie type in a panno van" and walking out of it the next morning in the same manner a cowboy would get off a horse after 5 days hard riding in the desert. and crying in the rain walking home.
The evils of alcohol..... in a classic cringe-worthy scene.
Oh, and Bobby coming out of the fridge Haunting ailsa was a cack

i want shares in the juice bar on home and away, the amount of money the kids piss away on juice is unbelievable, alf should use the profits on the juices in upgrading the gym, it looks like it has a capacity of about 5 people
I remember in Neighbours, when dylan timmins, who had been in a plane crash in the bass strait and faked his own death by hiding in the tassie wilderness, magically reappeared at his own funeral, popping up right behind his mum when she was delivering his eulogy. Drama dosen't get much more riveting that that!:o
I also enjoy a good wedding, especially when one of them has only moments to live for some reason or another
speaking of weddings, it would seem either the bride or groom MUST be extremely late and turn up on a horse/pushbike/submarine/etc, anything but the vehicle in which they are supposed to arrive in.
Why are 3 children below the age of 16 living in a house by themselves. Where the **** is the government in all of this? Why dont the neighbours do more to help them out.
I'm going to have to volunteer one of my own :o
And by that I mean the Geelong players who made a cameo at one of Ringo's football games???? Was it Shan Shan and Tom Lonergan??? Whoever it was, they were hopeless. :D

Some of these might go back a few years for Neighbours viewers, and some are more recent:
- Tad DJing at Hemisphere nightclub
- Paul McLain playing for the Erinsborough Dingoes, then getting drafted by the crows
- Some tough BMX bandit called T-Bag trying to muscle in on Tad and Hannah's BMX track that they'd built at Harold's market garden plot
- Billy trying to do an insurance job on his own workshop by smashing the side window, but then getting found out by the police, who figured out that the window had been broken from the inside
- Drew falling off a horse, landing on his shoulder, and eventually dying from his injuries in hospital
- Sindy turning crazy and Stu having to put her in a care home
- Toady's ponytail with an undercut
- The Andrew 'Woody' Woodhouse witness protection saga
- The Boyd Hoyland character in general
- Grease Monkeys Diner
Even though he's a good character, Neighbours really 'jumped the shark' once Paul Robinson came back. It got too ridiculous after that, and they tried too many random 'shock value' storylines (most of which revolved around Paul) that made no sense. That coincided with the gradual pussification of Lou Carpenter as well. In the very old episodes (that they used to repeat in the afternoons on 10) he was a confident, brash, wheeler-dealer type. Then in the mid-90s he was the Mayor of Erinsborough, and a successful businessman with his own pub. But then they bought him down to being just a bumbling old man like Harold, and almost made them into a psuedo-gay couple.
I watched Neighbours nearly every night (as it often coincided with dinner time at home) from about 1994 until mid-2005, then lost track before Stingray died, and then didn't watch again until the 'reboot' a couple of years ago, and haven't watched again since then.
Detective Robertson on Home & Away reminds me of Nick Cave for some reason. Possibly it's his speech patterns, as well as bearing a vague resemblance to him. He's one of the more interesting characters the show has produced recently. He's quirky, but in a good way. Miles is quirky too, but just in an annoying, lame way.

Bahahahaha. I've done that too! Falling off a horse that is. But I guess I lived because I landed on my hip, as opposed to the shoulder. ;)
Its weird tho how you "go off/on" shows. Atm I am totally off Neighbours. Happened a few times with me and that old cop show "The Bill". Got back onto in several years ago, but havent watched it in years now since then. Doubt I'll never go back either.

Lou works very few episodes (At the request of Tom Oliver the actor) so they can't really get him involved in anything but fluff storylines.

I turned on tonight looking for funny Malcolm in the Middle but this came back on :(.
That new guy is horrible.
What pisses me off about these "actors" is in interviews they all say they want to leave in a few years to pursue a career in Hollywood. All of them would be lucky to pursue a career in McDonalds never mind bloody Hollywood. Your nobody. Toady realised this and stuck to his guns. Harold, Lou, Paul.
Unless your Deltra Goodrem and can sing a bit too just stay on the show instead of pretending you actually have talent.

Yeah, pretty similar. I watched it religiously from when I was 4-5 years old (1986-87) through to about 18 months-2 years ago when I just got bored of the crap acting and shit storylines. When Toady started looking after that chubba mini-toady was when I stopped bothering.
I agree that it jumped the shark when Paul came back and the whole burning down of the pub or diner (cant remember which one), then Paul losing his leg. Just meh.

Watch H&A occationally as the missus and kids watch it, but think it was last years (or the year before) they had one of the characters competing in the Summer Bay illegal underground bare knuckles fighting, where supposedly thousands could be made by fighting in front of crowds of 5.
Surprisinly the missus and kids dont see the humor in me pointing the obvious holes in the plot, the shoddy acting, the obvious swerve, or the fact this stort/arc has been done three times in the last year.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!
I went from double episodes of funny Malcolm in the Middle to GAYbores and 7PMS ProSUCKYshow.
Also now that 7PMS is back, the show the repeats on late at night. Which means a) Letterman gets pushed back an hour or half an hour (Depending when they do their hour show) and b) Sex in the City has been replaced because god knows why they're replaying it when no one even watches it at the 7PM timeslot!

We all know that 90% of the cocaine business is done on the sets of Aussie soap sitcoms. Id say these are some smart poms. Coke at a discount. Yeehaww

Rag on them all you want, but the whole 'back in the day' thing doesn't fly. They were always deadset awful.
tell that to the poms, because that's the only reason why they have kept these shows running. because the poms still love watching them. even though australians think they are shit

Well, when you put them up against EastEnders and Coronation Street they start to look pretty good.
ARGH!!!!!!
/rant
Lol. Chill out.. (hard to do in this weather I know). I do agree with you about Sex n the city.. being on holidays and up late every night it was good to have something half decent to watch. Repeats of the 7pm show??? Jesus christ. :thumbsd:

Err.... I'll put my hand up. I've done that tour.. and I was born and bred in Melbourne. Does it help I went with a Pom who was staying with me at the time????
:o

Even worse are the Poms that buy the houses that are used as Neighbours houses from the outside. That court must just about be full of Poms now.
Wouldn't it be easier to list all the non cringeworthy moments?
Massive cringeworthy moment then.
The blonde chick was talking to Lucas in the hospital about how she's a bad friend and Lucas didn't reply. Then she gets angry and says "Fine ignore more"..... Lucas was still asleep after having a fit :D.
Then she was saying "Some people will do anything to get out of work" and "If I find out this is some attention seeking act.... I'll never let you win pool again".
Bahahaha, it's so bad.

I've never watched more than a few minutes of Coronation Street but EastEnders shits all over Home and Away and Neighbours (or at least it did back in 2004/05 when I watched it). Of course, it doesn't take much to shit all over those two.
This topic has put me in the mood to watch these shows tonight

haha I've never understood why the poms like Neighbours so much..
Maybe it's the accent or they like to laugh at us or something.
But I can say though never been a fan of either show I dislike Home & Away more it just seems so shitty to me for some reason

haha just reading through this thread makes me think the scriptwriters are taking the piss surely...
Also I like the idea of a David Lynch type character on both shows it would be awesome. (Or a David Lynch type storyline for that matter).
Or someone just a little kooky eg. Christopher Walken, Crispin Glover, Johnny Depp etc. That would be some humorous entertainment. Just to see how these uptight model citizens react to them.

Donna.
But Libby is the best looking IMO.

Home & Away had a short-lived character last year - Detective Robbie Robertson - who was somewhat similar to Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks.

Much appreciated, her name fails beyond comprehension.

Speaking of that charachter - how was the embarrassing hissy fit the other night!
Went outside, kicked some potplants over, walked around in a circle and shoved 4 bins over - and went back inside again.
Pissed myself laughing.
