View Full Version : Good start to the day
Always puts me in a good mood when the Cows lose. When it's to a team that's been the AFL whipping boy for years that makes it even better. Now to make it a perfect day we just need to overcome the Lions

Yeah i don't expect to win, but neither did St Kilda :D
We are still a few weeks away from our best and we are the underdog.
The loss will be just that little bit easier to swallow now thanks to the saints.
Hopefully few will learn a lesson to worry about their own backyard before coming into others.

What is more important a Crows loss or a Port win? I know the answer is obvious to most, but just checking your thoughts...

My perfect trifecta on a weekend in order of importance is.......
A Port win in the AFL
A Port win in the SANFL
A crows loss
If I answered your question it would be both SA teams win but only 1 of the results really matters..........;)

You could say similar about your mob too, since the crows have been on a roll and port have had a bad start there seems to be plenty hanging around here stirring the pot...

I just thought it was funny after all the bleating a few of your supporters have down on BigFooty in the last few weeks how you are so damn good and how your gonna win 22 games and how st kilda didnt have a hope in hell that you ended up losing. Might help to deflate some of your supporters egos a bit and give you a reality check. Awesome game by the King too. Pity he doesnt get to play on 7-game 2nd-year 18 year old under developed players like Polak every week isnt it! Might also help to give your lot a reality check on how he will perform this year.

Whilst I enjoy seeing the crows lose it's nothing like the feeling and celebrating after a Port win............:D
I wouldn't say we get more excited about crow losses but it's always good to put people back in their place when they come trolling on our board............at least your sensible enough to not post crap like a few of your fellow supporters have here over the last few days..........

A few of us are headed out to the club tonight to watch the game.......just have to decide whether I listen in on the radio to hear the game live.

Yeah well Kane today was satisfying for me but I would have rathered watched a 20 goal win by the Crows and a Port win tonight.
I actually don't mind the Crows it's just certain supporters of the Crows make it satisfying seeing them get beat.
At work for the past few weeks they have only given me chit about Port and gloated about the pre season cup, Carey and thrashing Freo.
I hate to admit this but I actually was glad to see them beat Collingwood in the Wizard Cup, something I regretted shortly after, I since then have found it harder to define which is worse - a coccky Crows supporter or a coccky Collingwood supporter.
I really couldn't give a chit about the Crows, I have more respect for sides like Brisbane and the Kangaroos who have caused us grief in our short history, if anything I think the Crows are like Fremantle to West Coast - an easy 4 points. The reason I am taking notice of the Crows this week is because of a couple of of half wits like Paul and PrideofSA who have been posting here lately, just makes it all that more satisfying. On your part, I like reading your posts and you always have something positive to say, it people like you I feel for on days like these.
I once read a quote by Porthos about Coyote and the road runner, that kind of sums up the relationship between Port and the Crows. I'll try and find it if I can.

I thought you were going to host the supporters club out your way tonight?
I was going to go to the game tonight but hurt my back, I am devastated, this game was number one on my list during the home and away season.

I was considering going out there but no-one else seemed interested and a few supporters are going out to Tracy Village to watch the 'live' telecast starting at 10:00pm.
Unfortunately we have a fair few people up here that are like people from Adelaide and don't like travelling too far out of their way.............
The first couple of years I was up here a group of us used to travel down to Adelaide River to watch Friday night games at the pub as the games weren't shown at all in Darwin.......always made for a fun night at a great little country pub.........
Some people used to tell us we were mad travelling 100km to watch a game on TV but we had fun.........and it's nothing compared to the 1000 km trips south I did many years ago when living in Coober Pedy to go watch a game of footy or see a concert in Adelaide..........I guess it comes down to how passionate one is about things............

We have supporters around us who travel from Pt Lincoln and Whyalla for each home game, and then you hear the people who say it's not worth travelling from Hallet Cove or Elizabeth for a game. Port Lincoln is about 700kms away, not a bad effort at all.
I'm travelling up Nth in May so I might have to call into Tracey Village for a beer and some footy.

I think it is true all clubs have c ocky supporters & there is no doubt we have a few too. Believe me I felt very sick when I saw the thread that we would win all 22 games & responded as such. One poitive from losing to the Saints is it will give some of these supporters a dose of reality. Thanks for your comments, but as much as I'm pi ssed of with our effort today, I'm still confident about the season ahead. I look forward to going to next weeks Swans game & how the players respond - I won't be slitting my wrists just yet. ;) I'm hoping that tonight is a cracker of a game before I switch over to the Davis Cup for hopefully a clean sweep (very important to me as I have a sports mad Swedish brother in law).

True, if you are c ocky as a supporter, you should expect to get it back big time when you fall flat on your face! Knock Carey all you want at every opportunity. However, still confident Carey can contribute to a successful year for the Crows. It was evident today that he still lacks match practice - hopefully he will be close to full fitness come the showdown. I was actually more concerned about us not going 100% for today's game.

Country people never have a problem with travel........I remember when working at the Blinman pub a few years ago we had a group of shearers that would travel 250km to come in for a drin each night when in the area............
I also remember when Footy Park was built that some eastern suburbs footy supporters said it was too far away - even though it's less than 10km west of the city centre they would never go there as it was too far to travel.........
With 2 Friday night games, 1 Saturday, 1 Saturday night and 1 Sunday game we should have most of the games shown live.......look forward to catching up again when your up here - just as the weather hits perfection...........:D

Definately, last time I was on foot as I had no car with me, I went into Darwin at about 11.30am and never got to watch the game till well after 2pm unfortunately, taxi after taxi. Wrong directions after wrong directions, I ended up getting to a Pub at Palmerston and they had Fox Footy channel, I was rapt and the bar girl said she'd change the channel, as she went to do this an old drunk carried on that he was watching a rugby game on Fox sports which was about 7 days old so I had to find another place. Then I found Tracey Village after a long walk and 3 taxis, missed most the first half.
I remember that day, I had two carlton Draughts and I was slurring words, it must of been the humidity, I never got drunk so quick in my life. It was nice and humid, each day I was too bothered to get out of bed and a carton of beer would go down like water but hopefully I get a better look at the place this time, I have 3 weeks of public holidays up my sleeve and an additional 4 weeks holiday.
i very much agree with Dreamkillers..the perfect trifecta is -
Port win
Port Magpies win
Crows lose
I guess an added bonus, and number 4 would be -
bickley or carey or Birdbrain or roo or bassett or smart or hart injured and out for season :D

If we play like we did last night against any other team we would have won the game.........
We were 0-2 this time last year and we didn't end up with a bad minor round result........adversity can bring the best out of a team - with games against Hawthorn, Carlton, Adelaide, Richmond and Melbourne coming up I'm quite confident we'll be in a much better position in the not too distant future.......
After last nights' game I'm very confident of a good year. Coming so close to the top team in the league even when everything was against us was a great effort and we have a lot of the second-string teams to come. With Hawthorn, Carlton, Richmond and Adelaide twice and West Coast at home to come we're still looking at two home finals.

It made a couple of Crow posters on the main board happy though. Calling it Karma, what a joke.
