View Full Version : Chocos performance v Brisbane

I thought the much maligned Port coach had an outstanding night v Brisbane. After the losses of Tredrea and Francou he (and the coaching staff) came up with some very creative midfield, defensive and forward line match ups and rotations that I thought kept the Lions off balance for much of the night.

His press conference was very good too. Very measured and controlled, and even found time to make a comment on the ruck interpretations that didn't sound like whinging.

Yep, can't complain. I certainly don't think we suffered for playing only two ruckmen either.

I've always been critical of Choco's unwillingness to throw his players around but he was inspired last night. Although it must be remembered that these changes were forced on him, not just optional. If Francou had been on the ground and was getting thrashed, I wonder if Williams would have moved him.
The main question to still be answered is why do we lose control for the last few minutes of the match?

Agreed but I'd say we will have 3 playing for the next 3 weeks at least with Brogan and Lade sharing the CHF/FF positions with Chad........

I haven't seen last nights game. Might have to organise a video. DK?
What I would like to see is Lade to stay in the SANFL a little longer to really get his confidence back.
Primus mainly at FF until he is fully fit, and Brogan to do most of the rucking work. He needs the experience, and when better than knowing that he has Primus as a backup.

I'll try and tape it from Fox during the week..........

Whilst I tend to agree having Lade play a few more games in the SANFL we need another tall to play FF/CHF whilst Tredders is out and I would rather Primus was rested more than playing a full game...........could be an interesting selection night this week......

I thought Primus was excellent last night and not far from his best

Wrt our ruck, IMO Brogan needs all the experience he can get, and the best way is for him to know that Primus is there as a backup.
Primus seems to be fit enough, but not quite (if that makes sense), and at FF he more than holds his own, plus it isn't as rigorous as either ruck or CHF.
Lade needs confidence, and to know that if he doesn't lift there is no such thing as a gold pass.

The game is replayed about 8 times during the week so I shouldn't have a problem

Even with Primus in Ruck and Brogan in our forward line he is still getting plenty of time in ruck as he takes that role on in our forward line - he is going to get plenty of time this year as rarely will our rucks be swapped from the bench.

I'd just like to see Primus's workload eased off a little during the year so he is cherry ripe in September.........I think Lade knows if he doesn't come up to scratch he will be lucky to be on any AFL list next year......

Tredrea out.

Lade scores 5 goals at FF.

Ladey WILL be playing next week.

The only thing missing was the trump card move fo doing the three quarter time address on the outer wing... :D

5 goals on Corey Ah Chee, who, for all his skill is a small full-back. Lade could be lucky and get a call-up. But I wouldn't be too sure yet.

According to the injury list last week 3-4 weeks........I wouldn't expect to see him playing til the second half of the season after having to show some form in the SANFL.......

Seeing what he's got at AFL level before he gets injured again wouldn't be all that bad of an idea, IMO... :D ;)

I'm with Mic on this one.
The only thing that may save him is the fact that Brogan is not that good up forward.
