Young Brandon Matera , Wallys son , has signed up for 3 years . We are starting to get some quality youngsters into the team now.:thumbsu:

Woah that is great news for the GC! Congrats guys. Your team next year is gonna be awsome in the VFL Also you have got him for 2 years in the AFL! Jack Darling you will sign up I rekon which means you have got the top 3 picks but really like the top 7 because you have signed up like 5 guys you were considering for those picks!

Whats with all the eagle fans saying he should have been yours? If anyone should be livid it is the dockers, had Wally played 5-6 more games for South Fremantle he would be a docker under the father son rule

A ) Wally played for us, albeit about 20 games
B ) the Matera name is synonymous with West Coast
You guys had the chance to draft Phil, but gave up the rights to him for David Hynes, and you would never have drafted Peter because he isn't from Claremont ;)
Disappointing to see the young lad go there, but he's got a great love of West Coast and I still think he will pull on the blue and gold one day

Ghey. I heard comments that he probably would from guys who where involved in the U18's, hoping it was BS.
Swallow and Matera are going to be great signings for our 2013 season.

Awesome! From all I've read, this kid looks to be a dead set gun. Geez, GC are going to be strong after a few years in the big league.

I think you will find the eagles fans where probably making the statements in jest and as usual you deadshit Dorker fans put two and two together and got 11.
Another deadshit supporter (Dorker) suggested Wally would be livid but that article was also in jest.

He's given indications that he would like to one day continue the Matera tradition and play for the club where his dad and uncles played for. This lure will get bigger when Peter's kid comes up to be drafted in about 4-5 years time and he can play with his cousin ;)

I hate GC you have taken our future FP from us! we have needed one of those since his uncle retired, we were keeping the spot warm for a Matera offspring.
There is always trading for him back.... surely one day he will be int he Blue and Gold. Mabye when he sees his cousin drafted to us under the F/S rule in 2012-13.

Well he made the right decision in going to the GC. Even if he wants to play for Westcoast. Chances are the GC would have drafted him next year, i doubt we would have had a pick anywhere near high enough to steal him away.

Who knows who will be number 3 with Toy and Matera already at the Coast! However last year the 1 and 2 picks were Butcher and Scully. They most likely only got 1 of them right( Tom Scully) so although very, very unlikely Darling and Swallow might not be snappped up by GC!
