The squad has been released
Interesting to see Holland named in the squad. Dont think he will get a game though

Jon Holland? WTF?
Um, has anyone ever heard of XAVIER DOHERTY - only the best 1day spinner on the domestic scene for several years now...
gebus, what does Xavier have to do to get a game?

So, no Michael Clarke and David Hussey... who replaced him for the ICC Champions Trophy is missing but Shaun Marsh returns.
Jon Holland named is very interesting. :thumbsu:
Hopefully we win the series early and he can have a game. Dougy Bollinger in for Nathan Bracken.

Great to see Sean Marsh back in the frame, returning from injury.
I wonder if he'll be forced to play down the order?

Just realised Ferguson isn't in the squad. Paine might bat down the order, who knows. Will be interesting to see how it goes.
Marsh will open with Watson, and Paine will bat at 6. The only other option is for Voges to actually get a game, and obviously the selectors only pick him to carry the drinks.

Can't see Paine batting at 6. He takes his time to get going and builds his innings.
The selectors also won't want to split up what has been a successful partnership between Watson and Paine unless they're forced too.

Then Marsh might be sitting on the sidelines and Voges might bat at 6.

Good to see Dutchy get in the squad, but must admit Doherty could consider himself a bit stiff IMO.

Great to see Marsh back in again, he or Watson should either be an opener (with Paine) and the one that doesn't bats at 4?

Why no Bracken?
Injured I believe.

Both injured.

Both injured.
That's a relief.
Have never been a Bollinger fan, if he were to have been included over Bracken it would have been sheer idiocy.

Possibly.
But having said that, how much of a difference could there be with Marsh opening as opposed to coming in late or in the middle order?
He's a much more dynamic batsman than Voges and he (Marsh) has performed at international level. Was also very much in favour before his injury, and imo, still is considering he hasn't played much cricket at all and yet has been selected on this India tour.

Yeah, I think he's more likely to play than Voges.
I just hope they don't split up the Watson/Paine opening partnership, so if they're prepared to play Marsh, they should bat him at 6 (with White/Hussey swapping between 4/5 when necessary).

Voges gives us an extra spin bowling option, if required.

Marsh left arm spin bowls spin also, but probably not as frequently. If you've got White there as a 7th bowling option it doesnt really matter anyway.
Ferguson damaged his knee in the Champions League final (hyperextending whilst fielding) and considering history (2004: torn ACL) with reconstructions is being treated as cautiosly as possible with the rather tight scheduling. Hence his non involvement.

Great to see Marsh back. He was very impressive in the ODIs last summer before doing his hammy. Hopefully he can get the gig alongside Watson.

Marsh struggled for WA today and looked a bit ginger when chasing in the outfield as well, might not play in India.

Very strong batting unit India.
Like the look of Kohli.
Their bowling looks shaky without Zaheer Khan to give it some backbone.

Based on tonights performance and if the pitches from the CLT20 are anything to go by, one of our pace bowlers (probably Siddle) will be rested and both Holland and Hauritz will play with Lee and Johnson bowling pace (and Watto and Hopes as the change bowlers).

There was an article on cric info saying in all likeliness we will play Holland and Hauritz in most games and rotate the quicks in each game. I assume we will play only one spinner if there are any day games that start around 9:30 am local time and the ball will swing.
