Like it!
With the 2010 list, can you do a colour coded or symbolly thing to denote senior and rookie listed players?
Cheers.

i thought he was okay, considering he plugged holes in the ruck, forward and back.

A real shame that Mummy had to go, but understandable given salary cap constraints, and i really hope matt egan bounces back for some games in the future as he's a class act. but all in all, its still a strong list. i want a hawthorn grand final to serve them up some vengeance for 2008!
Updated for the Harley retirement.
Updated now for the David Johnson retirement.
Player numbers 2, 10, 19, 22, 23, 28, 31, 36 and 41 currently up for grabs.

Draft picks haven't altered (17,28,40,42 and 56). DJ's retirment creates the 5th vacant senior spot on the list.

I see on the lastest team list on the AFL website that Brodie Moles has been delisted. I thought the club was waiting to see if he could be third year rookie listed, but I may have been wrong or maybe he didn't accept the clubs offer. It will be interesting to see is he is picked up elsewhere.

He is too, that's interesting. Don't think it was made public in any press release that I saw.
Will update our unofficial list.

Gee it's been a while since we used 5 picks hasn't it?
What happens if Wojo decides to crack it and go in the draft.
What pick after 56 will we have?
It would be almost useless.

Our next pick is 65, probably not many live picks between 56 and 65 and pick 65 will be well before our first rookie pick.

We would have pick 65.
I agree that would be fairly useless.
If we end up using it b/c Wojo leaves I would suggest maybe we'll re-draft a player (i.e. Simpson). Or we might hold one over for the PSD, however the salary cap situation probably makes that unlikely.

Actually I have come up with a use for 65.
We take a mature ruckman from somewhere so Hawthorn can't take one at 69. :D

\Well for your interest:
57 and 58 will definitely be live as the Dawks are starting so late
St Kilda have essentially said they won't use 60 or 64.
Bulldogs will probably use 63 as it's their third pick.
63 must be live as Collingwood only have 30 before it.
The only unsure one is whether Adelaide uses 61.
Cats Insider: Dan McKenna and Bryn Weadon are doing pre season with the Cats in the hopes of continuing their AFL careers.
Interesting news. You would think McKenna would make it back on the rookie list.

Possibly...although with Laidler's elevation and Drum's recruitment I'd be surprised.
Weadon is also interesting....I never saw much of him because of his injuries, but clearly someone at the club thinks he still might have something else to give.
Do you know of anyone other delisteds (or similar) doing pre-season with us?
No, that was just from the Cats Insider facebook.
Has anyone got any official word on Moles? Perhaps he isn't delisted after all, he isn't named here (http://www.afl.com.au/retirements%20%20delistings/tabid/13717/default.aspx).

It's confusing as some lists had him delisted and others didn't,yet his named disappeared off the Geelong players list on the GFC site but there's been no mention on the GFC site he was delisted.Every other delisted player was mentioned in articles on the GFC site.

The bit that was most interest in the article is:
Matthew Egans number 19 jumper will be held aside in the hope that he can return to the Cats list following his rehabilitation program. Matthew Egans number 19 jumper will be held aside in the hope that he can return to the Cats list following his rehabilitation program.
Surely we are dreaming if we think Matty can make it back now.
It may be a dream but it's a nice gesture by the club none the less.
I also like the fact that Harley's #2 not being used this year.
Let's hope Menzel's career doesn't turn out like that of our recently departed #10.

You only have to look at his highlights vid to see that he should be better than Tenace. What I liked was that when he got the ball in the back half he looked inside and kicked well into the corridor rather than take the easy option and go out wide.
When I was reading about him getting #10 I thought it was going to say, "Menzel will be taking number 10, the number made famous by Kane Tenace".:D

Could the #10 jumper be a bit of a bad luck number for it's wearer. We only have to look back at its recent owners.
Kane Tenace
Grant Tanner
Stephen Hooper
I am pretty sure they all wore 10. Not you most illustrious of careers there.

Collingwood :)
But yes Woolnough Snr and Jnr both wore 10.
Tenace was actually lucky. The three guys that wore 10 before him all had career ending knee injuries.

A couple of legends of the club have worn 13 though (Bert Rankin and Arthur 'Bull' Coghlan), and in our time there was also Paul Sarah.
I looked at the players that have worn 22, and it's been the definition of slim pickings for 100 years. Only Bluey Hampshire and Tom Morrow have worn 22 in more than 100 games.

I would love to see Gillies get the number 2 after this season if he keeps improving. You see it happen more at other clubs, Geelong aren't big on retired greats 'handing down' numbers, but I like the idea.

i don't really care. i'm pretty sure players with high numbers are offered the vacant lower numbers, other than that they're distributed in draft order.
and i'm sure harley's number will be offered to the next guy who's deemed worthy of wearing it
