Ah the Lanky Yank - One of the last reminants of the Australian cultural cringe. Didn't even know he was sick.

The Lanky Yank.

His tonight show was good, always had a big smile on the dial. The only thing I didn't like was his singing...could never quite get into his..style.

He and Bert Newton were a good combo.

NFL. As Red & Black said, really introduced the NFL to Australians. Pity one of the commercial networks bought the rights off the ABC and stuffed it up for us.

My thoughts exactly. He did a lot for the entertainment industry in Oz, I thought there would already be pages and pages on this thread.

Enjoyed his work. Glad he got to see another Giants championship before he went.

RIP Don.

I'm too young to have watched him, but from reading the tributes and a little about what he has achieved.. many people have him to thank for bringing joy to their lives and from an American Football supporters POV, he definitely helped introduce the game to Australians.

RIP

I used to love watching Don & Bert on the Don Lane Show. They worked wonderfully well together.

R.I.P Don Lane.

"I'm Don lane and this is NFL American Football!!" That was the first thing that came to mind after i read the OP

It felt better watching that than on FOX or ONE, same with college football and basketball, you dunno what you got till its gone :(

Its an amazing tale. A Lanky Yanky came to our shores he captured our imaginations and in the process he entertained us for years.

Also as others have said introduced me and many others to American Football.

He became an Aussie legend..... thanks mate and the world is a lesser place for your departing. You will be missed.

RIP Don Lane.

Always remember being gutted when Nein thieved the NFL and had Eddie front it (though they did show some live playoff games).

Don was the man.
