No, not the old porn flick... :D

Does anyone remember the song "Tears of a Clown" by an Aussie(?) band called Caligula, from about ten years ago?

A mate of mine is in a cover band and I think it would suit their style, but unfortunately I don't have a copy to play to him.

I've tried finding it on Kazaa but have had no luck yet.

If anyone has a copy of this song (in any format), please PM me.

Wasn't it originally a Smokey Robinson track?

Caligula, waht a great Aussie band.
Electro heads.
I have some of their EPs, but unfortunatley no tears of a clown.
Which incidentally I thought was the death of the band.

I've got the song on an old 100% Hits or Hit Machine CD somewhere.

Just did a quick google search and found one potential site - http://www.geocities.com/mynameisjoeb/mp31/C.html

I've also posted the lyrics:

Now if there's a smile on my face
it's only there tryin' to fool the public
but when it comes down to foolin' you;
Now honey, that's quite a different subject

But don't let my glad expression
give you the wrong impression
Really I'm sad
I'm sadder than sad
You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad
Like a clown I pretend to be glad

Now there's some sad things known to man
but ain't too much sadder than the tears of a clown
when there's no one around

Now if I appear to be carefree
it's only to camouflage my sadness
In order to keep my pride I try
to cover the hurt with a show of gladness

But don't let my show convince you
that I've been happy since you decided to go
Oh, I need you so
I'm hurt and I want you to know

Now there's some sad things known to man
but ain't too much sadder than
the tears of a clown
when there's no one around

Just like Pagliacci did
I try to keep my sadness hid
Smiling in the public eye
But in my lonely room I cry
the tears of a clown
when there's no one around

Now if there's a smile on my face
Don't let my glad expression
Give you the wrong impression.
Don't let this smile I wear
Make you think that I don't care
Really I'm sad
Hurtin' so bad...

That's "Tracks of my tears".
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile tooks out of place
If you look closer it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears"

Well a total blast from the past!!

I have their CD single here for Roundabout - and I got this groovy stencil (that kinda resembles Spider E's tattoo) that I put on the base of my school bag back then because I thought Caligula were just sooo cool.

They are up there with Def Rhyme and their cover of Mama Said Knock You Out and Tumbleweed's Daddy Long Legs... man all these grouse memories that have been spawned from a post - ta muchly! LOL
