We don't seem to give a shit about this Series, so why are we bothering to play it?

Dirk Dirk Dirk.
Or Harwood.
Has to be Nannes, or maybe Geeves. Wouldnt have thought we'd need another allrounder in Mcdonald. Becoming an extremely expensive tour! ;)

Gawd these are all crap series and they're hurting our players

It'll be Geeves.
I don't rate him a bit personally. Believe the Indian batsman will make mince meat out of him. But goodluck to him.

Stiffness in his left side?
Next up: Ponting sent home because of pins and needles in his left foot.

As I said, we clearly aren't desperate to win this Series, so what's the point?
Send that Starc kid over.

Red card coming your way
Nannes or nobody. He gives us something different, none of the other contenders give us more than McKay, Moises and Hilf. It's only 2 games by the time whoever gets over there, 14's enough.
That ****ing turncoat can't pick and choose. Goffersssssssssssss

doesn't really contribute to the odi side anyway. in 4 games he's only picked up 2 wickets at 83. not exactly a big loss to the team. gotta be nannes. be nice to rob the indians at home with such an understrength side

Could always do something radical and play Hauritz and Holland?

:D This is a joke. 8 players now out.
Geeves an option? A few months ago I wouldn't have minded that but he's in AWFUL form.

The only issue with that is that I can see the selectors not wanting to play 3 lefties in the same side.
But Nannes is probably the next best going around. I could really see them picking Geeves though...

He just took 5-for in the 4 day game, and 3-for in the ODD.
I think Geeves is alright-adds a good tailend batting option too. THough that is not what he would be picked on, just a bonus.
Anyone else think think the team mite be trying to send a msg to CA and the ICC about the rediculous amount of cricket played these days. These guys have come of the Ashes tour, 5 tests 3 tour games 7 odi's then stright into the Champions Trophy 5-6 One dayers and now 7 odi;s in Inidia with the test matches 3 weeks away (i think). Get the test 11 players fit and ready to go and give some fringe players some experience in the oe dayer arena.
Might need that replacement now (http://www.cricinfo.com/indvaus2009/content/current/story/432891.html) :o

Bracken, Hopes, Paine, Lee, Ferguson and Henriques did not play both formats of the game over that period. Most of them haven't played more than 20 ODIs worth of games (if you wanna include tour games + Champions League) since the Aus/Pak series in the UAE which was in what, May? :o

Burt Cockley sent over to India.... suprise, suprise he is from NSW.

If this trend continues even Brad Hodge might get another gig
Seeing how Jon "Later... With Jools Holland?" Holland is over there currently. Victorians are not in a position to scream NSW bias right now...

5 Nov 2009, 06:57
Why bother taking him on tour if he's not going to play?
At this stage of his career, getting him experienced going on tour isn't a necessity, he should be playing as many games as possible with Victoria.
But Cockley definitely is a call up out of obscurity.

wtf?
i can understand them not picking geeva as he's a bit out of form in one dayers, but cockley? on past form geeves should be first picked (although he bowled well in the shield match), on current form it'd be rimmington or cutting...
Brad Hodge can't believe this :thumbsd:

burt cockley whos that ? sounds like someone who should be on the pies list :p

Exactly. Geeves bowled well in the last week and has always been close to selection. I would have Stuart Clark..........Dirk Nannes (if he is eligible).......fair dinkum, there are plenty of better quick bowling options that some nuffy from NSW who has played a handful of games.

Are we that desperate for players we've taken to making them up?
What the hell is a Burt Cockley? Sounds painful.

Surely the selectors looked at bringing Anthony Stuart or Wayne Holdsworth out of retirement before resorting to Burt Cockley, so I have no reason to knock them here. They did what they could.

So basically, domestic performance is now irrelevant; if you're under 25, you're in contention, if you're over 25, thanks, but international cricket has past you by.

if you're not injured you're in the hunt for a call-up:p
Just have a funny sounding name and a call up to the Aussie cricket side is well on your way.:D Seriously though, Geeves surely gets a gig before some relative unknown??? Must of pissed off Ponting down at Tassie or something.....;)
And atleast Cockely was honest when asked about the suprise call up, "I didnt even think I was close'.... having a laugh in the process!
If you really look at it closely, most of the injuries haven't come from an over workload, theyve just come from bad luck.
Paine- broken finger
Haddin- broken finger
Ferguson- fielding accident
Henriques- well could be due to more cricket than usual, but its not like hes gone overboard.
Hopes, Lee, Clarke, Siddle and to a lesser extent Bracken are from probably too much cricket, but some have just been plain bad luck.

Cockley is there to get experience, we have McKay, Holland and Hilfenhaus all fighting for one bowling spot. And if push comes to shove McDonald can fill in as a bowler. So sending over Nannes would be pointless. Geeves has spent time in the Aussie squad already. They could have sent Cutting but it seems the selectors like the hit the deck, give 100% bowler which Cockley is.

I doubt Holland is fighting for a spot with the other 2.He's a spinner and he'd only play if they were going to use 2 spinners.
Ben Cutting and Brett Geeves should ask for an immediate transfer to NSW if they ever want to play for Aussouthwales.
Tell me we have a bowler called Ernie somewhere that we could call up as well?
Is there anyone from the original touring party left? Farcical!

Amazing with all these injuries that Watsons stayed fit and firing.

Would say hes best getting match fitness rather than giving a free trip to India to carry the drinks

He's a chucker and should never be considered again.

Agreed. Should have his papers stamped as such.

I would love to see Anthony Stuart in the green and gold again.
What memories!!
Can't believe I can't find a YouTube video of his hat trick. One of the best things I have seen in cricket.
