There is a whisper that Demetriou offered Jarryd Hayne $1.5 per year to come across to the Western Sydney side in 2012...
Massive coup if it eventuates (bigger than the Hunt coup).

Hayne status in league at the moment is that he can get twice that atm by staying in league. Given the risk in changing codes its just not worth it for him to do - but if they doubled that price maybe it would be a different
If they want to chase a league player they should go for benji marshall - fantastic player, great personality and has strong following among kids in the west.
Benji Marshall doesn't come across as the sorta bloke that would do that.

Hayne definitely re-signed with Parramatta.
Besides, do you really want to be throwing big money at a guy like that?

he isnt going any where. the afl are just trying to pull another stunt
It was mentioned yesterday that he hasn't re-signed in the NRL.
And no club in that league could come close to matching that figure.

he has a agreed to it and all he has to do is sign on the dotted line. he cant do that at the moment while he is in england

I really hope we don't go down that track.
There's enough of this siege mentality and accusations of gimickry from the NRL types as it is.
We'd be better served trying to find a local migrant kid who can play the game, which would generate positive interest in the region and underscore the core commitments of the club, rather than the synicism the poaching of an NRL player would bring.

Agreed. Karmichael Hunt is enough. Focus should shift to as you say finding a local migrant kid who can play the game. Oh and get this bloke playing for West Sydney :thumbsu:

He can pick up Aaron Edwards (yes Mark Geyer, there are Polynesians playing in the AFL you clown), Ranga Whatsisname from Geelong and Majak Daw while he's at it :thumbsu:
