Voss, this morning, on B105 radio in the 'agro to the rescue' segment.

It seems last Xmas Eve he received a call in relation to a family up here at Deception Bay.

Their little fella (now 2 and a half) had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. The family was of course very upset, and as they are massive Lions fans, a visit from Voss bringing them a little Xmas Cheer was just what was needed.

Since then he has heard the parents are now rushing to get married so that their son can be part of it, as over all his prognosis is not good.

Vossy called 'Agro' (you know that furry puppet) and asked him to help.

This morning on the radio, Vossy and Agro rang the mum and told her she now has a wedding. Complete with Bridal Gown, Wedding Bands, Flowers, Wedding night accommodation, and a special present for the little boy to help him enjoy the day too. All donated by some big name businesses.

Oh the tears are still prickling in my eyes...........Onya Vossy!

AFL footballers do lots of this sort of stuff, unheralded. Good form by Vossy, though.

Reminds me of Simon Black going to a hospital in Brisbane last year after the Bali incident and finding out the doctors treating the victims were sweltering, 'cos they couldn't have the aircon on with burns victims in there. Simon went back to the footy club and gathered all their ice vests so the medical staff could stay cool.

Not all footballers are dumb, nor are they all self-seeking money-grubbers.

It is so sad that lots of these stories get left behind or get a little 2 cm mention buried in amongst nothingness in the press. Then again I suppose the fact that they do this with no recognition is what makes it so much more special.

I can remember about 4 years ago when a bulldogs player (can't remember his name and I may be wrong about it being a bulldog - my memory is stuffed!!) but neway, this player did his knee and needed a reconstruction for the second time and when Steve Lawrence heard about it immediately got on the phone, and then got himself on a plane and flew down to Melbourne to see him and talk him through it.

The media always projects this image of hard tough footballers and on the field they are but they are humans too and this just shows the depth of their compassion.

Onya Vossy - when my friend rang me to tell me about the Vossy story this morning her voice was still wobbly. Powerful stuff!!
