I seem to remember the former Victorian Premier, Joan Kirner, singing (I think) "I Love Rock and Roll", the Joan Jett song, with David White on lead guitar.

Is that right, and which TV show was it (it was the ABC)? I think it may have been Wendy Harmer's show.

Can anyone help with the details?

The Late Show...

As usual, Mick Molloy stuffed up . He was supposed to hire Joan Jett and hired Joan Kirner by mistake..

He also hired Norman Yemm instead of REM, Ron Barassi instead of Shirley Bassey etc...

I rate Joan Kirner's performance as one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.

Others:

Hayley Lewis instead of Huey Lewis.
Pete Smith instead of Aerosmith.
Rex Hunt instead of T-Rex.
Dr Harry Cooper instead of Alice Cooper.

I loved Gabriel Gate instead of Frente.:) And Mike Whitney instead of Whitney Houston - that was funny.
But Joan Kirner doing "I love rock & roll" was the highlight.

David Boon instead of David Byrne from Talking Heads.

That was a shocker!!

I seem to remember a woman laughed so hard at Mike Whitney singing "I Will Always Love You" she went into labour.
