that time of year again.

looking for 8-10 interested people in playing again.

rules for the new season will be explained and voted upon when numbers are finalised.

*note: if interested you will need to be about regularly over the next 3 weeks while draft is taking place. if you can't commit to that either don't bother nominating yourself or you will be replaced if you continually stall the draft.

Fantasy Cricket is back for 2010 but has been tweaked slightly for a variety of reasons based on the 2008 & 2009 seasons.

ok 2010's competitors are:

Pluga4, Dig, Go Doggies, yeah-nah, happy eagle, courtjester, diablo14 & lazarus.

Team Selection:
*Each team is to nominate 11 players.
*Each team is to have a minimum of 1 player from the major 8 test playing nations, with a maximum of up to 2. No limit on Bangladesh or Zimbabwe players or the other odi minnow nations.
*Each team is to select 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers (in other words no wicketkeeper is required, or you can have multiple wicketkeepers in your side). Since there are too many bits & pieces allrounder types and no real clarification who is one and who isn't, when nominating a player of this nature, you must nominate the player as a batsmen or bowler upon selection.
You cannot change your allrounder types from a batsmen to bowler or vice versa throughout the season.
(Refer allocation of points for these players below)

Scoring:
*2 points per run (batsmen)
*1 point per run (bowler)
*20 points per wicket (bowler)
*10 points per wicket (batsmen)
*5 points for a catch or run out
*You must nominate a captain who will effectively be your wildcard and earn double points for the year.
*Points will be allocated in one form of the game only. It will be odi's.
(The reason for this change is that based on the last 2 years, too many people have players out as they only play ONE form of the game).

*Any given player can only score points in a maximum of 15 odi's. (there best 15 odi's will count if they play more). The reason for this is that the nations all play a different amount of odi's during the year. This will equal it up and gives your players a little room for error, either a bad game or so, or if they get rested or rotated in a odi as they do.

Replacement players:
The most contentious rule of the 2008 season and amended accordingly in 2009. It was hardly utilised in 2009 when coaches had there chance, and when it was used things got a bit messy and kept me on my toes admin wise.
This brings me to allocating NO replacements during the 2010 season.
*Note: If a player you draft gets injured throughout the remainder of 2009 you will be able to replace that player once the draft is completed.

Mid season draft:
The midseason will take place Monday 24th May (just prior to the English summer beginning) and you will have until Sunday 30th May to name your delisted players. Monday 31st May the midseason draft will take place and MUST be completed by Monday 14th June. (There are no odi's during this period). This is the time to recruit if you don't draft wisely or you have a run of bad luck with long term injuries.

Draft:
The order will go in sequence 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, etc

The order will be in reverse ladder order from the 2009 season followed by newcomers in order of nominating to compete followed by players that finished in the top 4 for 2009 (ladder positions as at end of nov).

Draft order:
Go Doggies, yeah-nah, happy eagle, courtjester, diablo14, lazarus, dig, pluga4and then back in reverse.

Team 1 will get picks 1,16,17,32,33,48,49,64,65,80,81 Go Doggies
Team 2 will get picks 2,15,18,31,34,47,50,63,66,79,82 yeah-nah
Team 3 will get picks 3,14,19,30,35,46,51,62,67,78,83 happy eagle
Team 4 will get picks 4,13,20,29,36,45,52,61,68,77,84 courtjester
Team 5 will get picks 5,12,21,28,37,44,53,60,69,76,85 diablo14
Team 6 will get picks 6,11,22,27,38,43,54,59,70,75,86 lazarus
Team 7 will get picks 7,10,23,26,39,42,55,58,71,74,87 dig
Team 8 will get picks 8,9,24,25,40,41,56,57,72,73,88 pluga4

Be weary if you end up being teams 1 & 8 at the bookends. Most occasions you will have 2 selections in a row.

Because this has only been put together with not long to go, there is a 4 hour limit on draft selections. If the time expires it will be the next persons choice. If you miss the time cut off for whatever reason you may have your selection upon your return. You can message someone with your selection if you wish, but if everyone is on their toes, the draft selection process can be over well within 2 weeks.
If you pick a player who has already been picked, it WON'T be the next person's responsibility to see if that player has been picked twice. Once i've returned or spotted it i will notify any offender and they can choose an immediate replacement, likewise with any ineligble selection that doesn't meet the selection criteria.
If you don't think you can follow these guidelines then don't waste my time or yours or you will be replaced by any other interested parties.

If anyone else has a rule to add or not entirely happy with one, or a rule needs tweaking let me know so it can be finalised before dec 31st.
If i've forgotten anything that needs to be added then sing out.

At the completion of the draft, you will need to have a team name and nominate a captain.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Let the draft begin go doggies. (Note: After Go Doggies kick starts the draft, its a 4 hour time limit before the next person can jump the queue).

I'll take my pick in the morning.

I also think that we either need to continue as a 7 team comp, or suspend the draft until we have one more player, because if we leave it too much longer too much quality will be gone.

One way or the other this other bloke is outta here.

pluga_4
8 Dec 2009, 20:42
yeah good call diablo...yeah-nah is now gone.

we'll continue as a 7 team comp, unless someone comes forward in the next day or so wanting to join and they'll be given concessions (such as they can pick their entire team upon entry) - providing everyone is happy with that.

either way the draft will continue.

You're confusing me pluga. It's go doggies for 2 picks now.

Also what about drafting an extra 3 players, putting them on a supplementary list (don't score), then b4 midseason draft allow teams to promote any supp list picks?

Would reward some speculatory late drafting without adding much more admin.

yeah don't mind me dig, i'm just losing the plot :D (i did mean go doggies)

i'm happy if we want to draft an extra 3 players, but not interested in making them substitutes/replacements and scoring. the admin gets all messy. i like the idea of having first dibs on them come midseason draft though (a bit like promoting a rookie) :thumbsu:

Pick 75: S Marsh (AUS) batsman

You can't have him, you have to pick a Kiwi or a Windie.

Anyone game enough to pick Herchelle Gibbs ?

he's a risk surely with his age and the emergence of some new players.

besides there are some bigger names who haven't been selected still.

He's there if you want him :D

Anyway, I messaged Lazarus while he was still on to tell him he needed to change his pick, because I wantedto give him a chance to fix it before I took mine.

But he's now offline and hasn't come back so i'm going next......

Grant Elliott (NZ) - batsman
