Adam Ramanauskas has been cleared of serious illness after having surgery to remove a lump from his upper body last week.
A statement released by the club on Tuesday said tests had cleared Ramanauskas and the exciting midfielder will resume a modified training program next week.
The abnormal lump was discovered when Ramanauskas was having a massage and it was initially hoped he would return to the Bombers’ line-up for this Friday’s Anzac Day blockbuster against Collingwood.
Ramanauskas was one of a number of senior Essendon players, including Paul Barnard, Joe Misiti and Dustin Fletcher who missed the Dons’ victory over the Western Bulldogs last Saturday night.

ADAM Ramanauskas will be sidelined for up to three matches after the Bomber had surgery to remove a lump from his upper body last week.
Specialists have declared the midfielder free from serious illness after the lump was found to be benign, but larger than first thought.
A club masseur discovered the lump at training two months ago and its removal was advised after Ramanauskas sought medical opinion.
The 22-year-old had starred in the Bombers' early-season wins against Melbourne and Carlton, and initially hoped to delay the surgery until the week's break after Round 12.
Ramanauskas will resume training next week on a modified program.
