What would they be and how would you change them? either to improve them and/or satisfy you?
I'll concert myself more later but to start things off.
End of Bodyguard would've been so much more effective, realistic and generally just ****ing better if he'd have died. Living and rejecting her to keep working and shit was just pointless. Taking a bullet for your bitch is as romantic as it gets - dying from that wound is the everest of romantic gestures. KC mate. You should've been cooked after taking that bullet.
Seriously though - the ending would've been perfect if he'd have died and she'd of belted out that really uplifting song of hers.

Hmmm.. changing an ending... one springs to mind. "Sweet Home Alabama", where the director actually DID change it. The orginal ending was to have the male lead walk in with a dead Reece Witherspoon.. but oh no wait a minute, shes alive!!!!! What the... that would have been a TERRIBLE ending..
As for endings I would change.. how about "Saw". The last 30 mins was a farce and ruined the movie. Actually come to think of it, was more a case of casting that ruined it. So yeah sorry cant think of any atm. :D
War of the Worlds remake - They should have had the kid die. Went Tom and the girl got to the house and he ran out it was just lame. Should have had him die when he ran off.
Indiana Jones and the KOTCS - Change it to anything, just anything but bloody aliens. The movie had some promoise up till then, but then ending, oh god.

Unbreakable. Thought it was an awesome movie and then the very ending....WTF???? They should have just ended it with Bruce Willis walking away from Samuel L. Jackson and not with that text on the screen. Terrible way to end it. Would have left it open to a possible sequel or just open-ended.

Likewise Gallipoli. Instead of the Aussie soldiers jumping out of the trenches and getting shot, it would have been much nicer if they had've just wandered over to the Turkish trenches and played some Connect 4 with them or something.

Stranger Than Fiction would have been a much better movie if Will Ferrell's character had died. He gets hit by the bus and it fades to black and the credit comes up - that would then be in my top 10 movies of all time.
The irony is that in the movie, Dustin Hoffman's character says the same thing about the book that the movie is based on (in the movie ... if you've seen it, this isn't confusing) - ie its a great book if he dies, but only a good book if he survives.
Indiana Jones and the KOTCS - Change it to anything, just anything but bloody aliens. The movie had some promoise up till then, but then ending, oh god.
And such prosaic formula aliens too. Shooting out the well so neatly was just a touch too silly looking.
Superbad:
I didn't enjoy the movie as a whole (i only got value from the McLovin + police scenes), i thought the ending was a "nothing" ending.
Give us something better!!! Heck do a BTTF style ending where, one character needs the assistance of one of the others (leading to a potential sequel, or "ride off into the sunset") - none of this saying farewell and departing on an escalator b/s.
Hannibal ... should of stayed true to the book and ending up with Lector and Starling as lovers.Definately

Star Wars: Episode 3. I wouldn't have had Anakin become Darth Vader at the end. Way too obvious.
Anakin should have died completely at the end of Episode 3. Palpatine brings him back in the form of a deformed evil clone, who still needs the Vader suit.
So the Vader we see in the original trilogy technically isn't Luke's father, only he, Yoda, and Ben think he is.
Rogue
- The moment when the dog runs off, they should have just kept walking. From that moment on, what was an excellent, suspenseful, realistic, unpredictable horror/thriller movie turns into an average, over-the-top, unrealistic, predictable hollywood style horror.

I am legend.
Yep, for sure. I was gutted when Smith was killed. However, I have seen an alternative ending where he lives and it was pretty ordinary. Can't wait for the prequel.
The Dark Knight is a tough one. My initial reaction on seeing that movie was that it was a massive cop-out to have nobody press the button. But later on, I figured that to leave that movie without any hint of redemption whatsoever would have made it way too dark and nihlistic. I still don't find it wholly satisfactory but I've decided it was the lesser of two evils, so to speak.
Good idea for a thread. So many potentially great movies out there that have been ruined by a lousy resolution. Most of my pet peeves in this area are the whole unrealistic-happy-ending-tied-up-with-a-bow type. I generally don't have much of a problem with gritty endings, even if they're a somewhat sucky letdown (a la I Am Legend). Have to have a think about it.

Said this before on here, but the butterfly effect.
Basic premise is he can alter "his" reality through looking at old photos, go back in time and change details (relive it) - which changes his future. He keeps trying to "fix" things so he is happy, but one of his friends/lover/mum always ends up in really bad shape. Eventually the realisation comes to him there is only way everyone he loves can be happy.
The "real" ending (director's cut?) has him go back to the video recording of his birth, he (in utero) slips the umbilical cord around his neck, and strangles himself. Everyone ends up happy, healthy and better off.
US audience tests didn't understand it, so it was re-written for release. In this version, he goes back to his lover's birthday party (where they meet as children) makes fun of her, and runs off. Cut to present day, and a "sliding doors" moment as they walk past each other, then look back in wonder at some vague memory.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Mila Kunis nudes up instead of Jason Segel.

I've never heard of that 2nd ending you're talking about. Sounds pretty crap.
How the hell did the stupid Yank audience not understand it? It was pretty much the whole point of the movie after that gypsy had freaked out and said "You were never meant to be". And it tied in perfectly with his mother having miscarriage after miscarriage with his father.
wasn't that at the start?

QFT. My wife and I saw it just because it was on austar one day. Thought is so good we showed it to friends of ours.
During the movie something didn't "feel right" - I felt I'd missed scenes, etc. Then the ending and my wife and I were horrified - literally made the whole movie a waste of time.

Yep definitely agree with this one.
The Last Broadcast - the mockumentary horror similar that was released before Blair Witch back in 98. The last 5 minutes was a ridiculous copout and just did not fit in with what the rest of what the movie created. Whilst it was one of those 'I didnt see that coming'....its not in a good way. Fair enough if the doco creater was the killer, but the final scenes where he kills the girl and the awkward scene in the forest trying to shoot the doco were just very very amateur. Would have been better if they just showed his face then faded to black...instead of the contempt they seemed to have for the viewers intelligence.
Lol, not bad.
I'd make the ending of LOTR III less ghey, even if it just means a random girl walks in and flashes her cans for a few seconds.
The actual storyline for the ending was good... but the whole emotional "best mates" saying goodbye just didn't work on screen and came across as ghey... also the dramatic ending pauses between the last 5 scenes didn't quite work either.
They didn't develop Sam and Frodo's mateship enough in the earlier films and then over-compensated in the last.
Love the trilogy as a whole but it got more disjointed the further along it went.
Dodgeball.

Woody Allen says: "I, I thought of that old joke, y'know, the, this... this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doc, uh, my brother's crazy; he thinks he's a chicken." And, uh, the doctor says, "Well, why don't you turn him in?" The guy says, "I would, but I need the eggs"

Such a cheesy ending, could of made it so cool If Will Smith realized that he was the only human left, and all that occurred was nothing but evolution of man.
Could have had a really cool shot of him walking into the dark, as he has no choice but to become one of the zombies.
Instead they had the typical hollywood schmuck ending, where he finds a new civilization of living people. Gimmie a break!
Could have had a really cool shot of him walking into the dark, as he has no choice but to become one of the zombies.
He couldn't become a zombie because he was immune to the infection. They would just kill him.

The Mist. Great movie and the ending is good, i'd just like to see an alternate ending where Instead of shooting his son he shoots himself leaving the kid to find the army/ the gigantic beast at the end comes towards them then blackout
