-I know it's 20/20, but who cares that is a massive shot

-Andrew Flintoff hitting Brett Lee out of the ground at Edgbaston straight back over his head in 2005, couldn't find an individual clip of it, it's in pretty much all of the series compilations though

BANUN31y2zY

- This is another brilliant shot, Tendulkar at his best, looked like he was ducking then bang, just so skilled

- Another one not on youtube individually, but one I can clearly remember was Ponting's straight drive off Simon Jones at Edgbaston in 05, I just remember seeing it and thinking wow

Feel free to share more as I would have missed many I am sure :thumbsu: More youtube the better

Yeah, I remember that shot from Blizzard. Had to be one of the biggest sixes ever, he hit a number of other sixes that day but that shot was unbelievable.

As a West Aussie I've seen quite a few big sixes at the WACA, if you're hitting with the Freo Doctor they can go for miles. I remember Mark Waugh hitting a massive six over the Lillee-Marsh stand one day and there was also this monster six from Afridi.

Inzy plays some crackers in this clip, but none better than the shot off McMillan at 0:55

There are few batsmen i've enjoyed watching bat than Mark Waugh. Here's one of his finest innings, with his full array of strokes on display in this clip....

msbNAAslqXw

Another favorite of mine is David Gower. I defy anyone to show me a better pull shot that the ones he cranks out in this clip....

Sp7UqReWQ2c

And then there's Viv. He loved this shot, and when you're hitting a class bowler like Imran away so easily, well...

u23PzWoKs0M

The first shot from Greg Chappell on this clip is one he often played, and few have played the straight drive better than he. Remember watching this series as a kid....

zD9ujsXsDhM

Here's Kapil Dev giving Eddie Hemmings the treatment....

36BF0F94291FD0E

I'm sure the older Aussie fans among you remember this one, i'm certain Steve Waugh remembers it :D

And though we got pumped in this game, I remember these shots with fondness :)

Doug Walters at the WACA 1974, when he smashed Bob Willis over mid wicket for 6 off the last ball of the day to record a 100 in a session.

http://images.theage.com.au/ftage/ffximage/2008/07/30/wbSLIFEwalters_narrowweb__300x398,0.jpg

THE innings would be talked about for years by cricket fans everywhere, even by Bob Willis, the England paceman who bowled that last over and who watched in disbelief as Walters pulled his last ball over the fence, taking his score to 103, exactly 100 since resuming on three after the tea interval. Mallett's description of the shot was that "it took of like a jumbo jet … and didn't get above three metres at any time" before landing just beneath the WACA Ground scoreboard. Says Walters: "It was one of those times when the bat hits the ball at precisely the right moment. I hit it in the screws. The ball sailed away, neatly bisecting the two guys at backward square leg and thudded over the boundary line. Six! You bloody beauty."

That six from Blizzard is just crazy.
Does anyone have a highlights package of Gilchrist going beserk at the WACA a few years ago?

The Blizzard one was good, but in actual fact it wasn't really that big of a hit.

You've got to remember that the WACA centre square has about 5-6 pitches on it, and Blizzard was hitting on the Eastern most pitch (which was to the left of the screen).

AB's "300 metres" call is just crazy talk. Probably not even a third of that distance before it landed.

****ing massive. Nearly hit the gold sign to win over $250,000 I think. Later on in the innings I think he hit another one which went even further out of the ground.

I downloaded one, and still have it, can't remember where I downloaded it from though, it was a couple of years ago.

I used to have his complete innings on DVD but unfortunately not anymore. Also deleted it off the comp. :(

I'm fairly sure there was someone on this forum who left at tea cos of the heat and missed the innings. You'd be gutted.

it was like 40 degrees in the shade that day a real stinker. My old man also left at Tea, the heat was too much for him, and he wasn't alone :)

Yeah, it was horrible until he went crazy. Last 3 WACA tests have been absolute scorchers, also made worse as I'm not a member and don't go with a member so it's sitting in the sun for me :( Although the last 3 tests have made up for the heat factor with the high standard of matches played - even though Australia has lost 2 of them.

How good were the days with Gilly coming in at 7. I remember that day he went nuts to get his 100. Was playing a bit of backyard until Gilchrist came in and as you do you drop whatever you were doing to watch the man bat. Boundary after boundary it was great to watch. Ahh they were good days.

Personally I think Australia's current batting line up is a little on the boring side if Ponting goes out cheaply. Hussey, Clarke, North in at 4,5,6 is very solid but mostly dull unless there past there 50.

Was that the game they put on that massive partnership of 300 plus?

I'm thinking of the shot that gilly hit out of the ground at bellerive a few years ago where the australian media tried to string the bloke up that got the ball and bolted with it.

Not only a great shot but a great story:thumbsu:

Back to back sixes if I remember correctly. One went onto the hill and the next went out the ground.

There's also one in the century he made against Zimbabwe where he hit one onto the roof of one of the stands which he said is the furthest he's hit a ball at the WACA. It's on the dvd 'New Guard'.

Some of the shots Ricky Ponting played in the 2003 World Cup final were just immense. Was hitting them so far. Our Aussie batsmen loved that ground.

Ponting hit a 6 v Pakistan a few years back that never went more than 5 metres high over square leg that nearly decapitated a few in the crowd. Think it was a Test but not certain.

Travis Birt put one into the tennis courts next to Junction Oval in a 1 dayer against the Vics 4 or 5 years ago, and another one onto I think Queens Road. Both massive hits.

Yep. Mark Waugh was amazing that day, just effortless, no follow through on one of the biggest sixes you will ever see.
