Did anyone watch the Footy Show last night.
Sam Newman had a cheap shot at MFC supporters and said only 700 odd travelled to watch the team play in Geelong....and he carried on and teased the culture of the club.
I know its in jest, but heck, how many Dees supporters drive a Rolls or have patches on their jackets......get a life Sammy.....I just hate this image the media portrays of Melb....where most supporters are ordinary working class folks (and some even support rugby league too.;) true...we do have quite a few Melb. tees and scarves at Storm games.
Anyway, what do we do about Sammy......laugh it off, or cause trouble;) with some emails, etc.:p
Why take notice of anything Newman says ?
Does he EVER says anything positive about anyone ? No
BTW,there didn't seem to be a lot of Dee's supporters at the Geelong game.

Can you blame the Melbourne supporters who didn't go?
We haven't won there for 15 years, that's reason enough not to go if I've ever heard one.
I actually went to the game, and I have now vowed never to return there again. I've been twice now, and I've witnessed Melbourne being thrashed twice. That's enough for me.
Do yourself a favour, whenever Melbourne play Geelong at Skilled, pencil in Geelong at the start of the season, regardless of how pathetic they are. I don't think the Dees will win there for a long long time.
I went in 2000 as well as this year.
Rono I think you're right we don't look like winning there, it's all in their minds.

You might be right.About 8 players came down and stayed in Geelong the night before the game, just to try something different.

I think the Dees have bigger problems ATM than what Sam the Sham is saying about them. Maybe they should merge with the Storm?

Hey, I have always suggested that:D but unfortunately not all Dees supporters would agree on that one (just yet;) )
Back to the thread.......I have been to Geelong a number of times, and find its a terrible ground to go to unless :
1. You pre-book tickets
2. Take a step-ladder or boxes to stand on, because unless you are really tall, there's someone always taller in front of you.:p
Its also :
3. Its expensive to book seats on top of admission price
:)

Here again you are sprouting rumours, just like you did on the rugby league site.
I'll be the first to admit that the West Coast Eagles supporters have a few chardonnay sippers, all teams do.
I'm just taking the piss, nothing to get in a tiffy about.

I can tell you, I wasn't one of them, more of a beer gulper on that day, had a few good ones down at the Cricketers Arms afterwards :D

Its damn frustrating to have this image, which does not really exist, except amongst a few of the MCC members.....you'll find 90% of Melb. supporters ordinary working class people:p and they get upset with suggestions like yours, even if they are in jest.
Where did you sit at the G?

I was on ground level, Great Southern Stand right on the 50m arc at the non-Baghdad end.
