And I'm talking mainstream schlock/pop/rock, so I don't want no hippies gettin on here and pretending to be cool by telling me to listen to weird stuff on PBS, Triple R or Triple J. :p
Gold FM has Johnno and Danno from 4 to 7 on weekdays, and now some new dude is on after 7pm, so I've lost my top 20 classic countdown for my bike rides!!! Booo!
And every time I turn on Triple M there seems to be someone talkin crap!
I want chat, I'll go to an am station

And if you want music, you should go to your own iPod.
Works much better, and no ads!

I'd say you're onto something there Rego.. I read all these FM stations are constantly changing their hosting line ups, particularly in the morning shift.
Sack em all, hire a cheap DJ, play music + news + traffic updates = watch the ratings soar.
Those FM "comedians" are absolute crapola.
well I've moved across to talk back radio and listening to CD's. Over here we have really really shit radio hosts especially in the morning. Afternoons we get syndicated stuff from interstate with as much personality as the weekend Today crew (so none)
Radio is just bloody annoying these days.

Those FM "comedians" are absolute crapola.Exactly. Hardly any of them are actually funny. Being funny ain't easy, and it's almost impossible to be funny for a couple of hours every day (even though there's probably only a hour's talking during a 3-hour show), five days a week. Even 'actual' funny stuff, like, say, Seinfeld or The Simpsons has a bazillion writers spending loads of time on a 20 minute show, and even then there's only a few laughs, at best, per episode.
Sack em all, hire a cheap DJ, play music + news + traffic updates = watch the ratings soar. .Exactly. I'm surprised one of the struggling 'major' commercial fm stations hasn't done this yet. I agree that the first one who does this will increase ratings.

Agree with Shell's comments. I really question FM radio stations - they pump in the ads to pay the salaries of these "comedians". The music itself costs very little in comparison. None of them want to do something different, it is exactly the same on every station, every day. I swear they exist sometimes to keep the careers going of "comedians" in Australia.
In peak times, you want some news, some traffic and music. That is it - none of the stations are smart enough to try it, even if it was for a few weeks. I gave up years ago and it only seems to be getting worse by the sounds of it.
But yes, I have tossed the radio - thank you to the inventor of the ipod!!!! :thumbsu:

When Nova first kicked off here in SA, it was all music, all day for about 6-8 weeks or so. No ads, no presenters. They played a good mixture of mainstream and alternative stuff, of all different genres. It was pretty much the greatest period of radio I've ever heard, in terms of just being able to hear music and no other crap.

Imo the only people remotely funny are Ross and John on 3AW. :thumbsu:
Its like they are not even trying to be funny, but because of this they are.

Staggered with a visit from the bush to the city recently and the amount of ads on FM now. It seems from 10 minutes before the hour and then up to the news!
Yes, Ross & John, funny because they are like mates you would be having a chat with...and throw in Sly on Wednesdays and its champagne dry humour from 8.15-8.30.

Triple J's too mainstream. Listen to Triple R and PBS
:D

Man some of their best segments are 8.15-8.30am (Peter Ford- entertainment is my fav). And when do I have to start work?
8.15am.
I've started listening to JJJ in the morning (less ads, less talk, more music). But moreso am listening to cd's in the car now. Morning radio is the biggest joke of all time. Ads, news, weather, traffic reports, unfunny topic to discuss, song (which will be played again on the same station at least 5 times again that day), repeat.
Is there anyone who actually enjoys the current format of most morning radio shows? And what is it about them that you enjoy?

RRR's breakfasters show is good, but I never get to listen to it because I'm never up at that time.
I'd seriously love to go to MMM and sort out their music. Whilst they'd still be a pain in the arse with ads, they have some decent music, but unfortuntately don't get the best of the new stuff like they claim they do. They get the worst.

the worst is saturday morning when they recap the "funniest moments" from the week.
The problem with Nova morning show is there are no funny moments in the show. Its always Fitzy being a bogan, The other guy trying to be peverted and Claire bringing up her stupid "ring in problem" disgused as something happening in her life, blah blah ****ing blah blah.
The current syndicated guy keeps calling everyone "brother" any more of this shit and I'm tuning in to Classic FM.

Apparently not...well, not really.
Is there anyone who actually enjoys the current format of most morning radio shows? ?Fox and Nova are the only ones who are doing anything in the ratings. Fox are very strong overall, and their mornings rate well across all age groups (12.5). Nova do ok, generally (morning: 8.6), and are very strong with younger listners. Even amongst younger listeners, the rest of the fm stations are doing poorly.

How do you know it is good if you never listen to it, strange comment??????
Personally I prefer my ipod as I ride my bike to work, if I had to settle for a station it would have to be Triple J.

I've listened to it in the past, I should've said rarely instead of never.
I apologise sincerely Mr Pedant.
