So pretty much, WA and NSW are awesome.

Bowling averages are a worry, nothing under 30, and reflect our results.
Tasmania: 34 wickets @ 30.59
Ben Hilfenhaus
Carn Hilfy.
Our best bowler imo.

Bit unfair to compare batting averages when Victoria have one half-batsman (McDonald - one test) and three bowlers (two of which have also played only one test each), and NSW have Katich, Clarke and Haddin - as well as Watson and Hughes who both played more tests than McDonald.
So really what this proves is that batsmen are better than bowlers at batting. Wow.

You can see that a state like victoria for instance contributed to Australian bowling far more than they did with the bat. (probably historically they have always done, and WA tend to be more of a batting state)
If you can also work out from the list that batsmen average higher with the bat than the bowlers then kudos.

Hang on? I've so missed something... When the **** did Watson start playing for NSW?

Irrelevant stats.
Brad Hodge has a higher test average than the top states on that list.
Bradman could be playing for Victoria and some B grade tosser from NSW would still get the gig.
Irrelevant stats.

Not really, take WA for instance - you have Mitchell Johnson's average (whatever it was) being dragged up by part time bowlers Hussey and North.

Yeah... just look at all those duds from NSW compared to all those superstars in McDonald, McKay, McGain et al
What would Victorias be without McGain?
take about 200 off the runs column and don't touch the wickets colums :D

What does it look like (genuinely curious) if you put the players to the States they originate from?
Katich WA, Watson Tas, Hauritz not sure who wants to claim him and so on.
Would be interesting.

Watson is a Queenslander, but played his first FC game for Tasmania.
Where do you fit him in?
