View Full Version : Is Peter Siddle the Shaun Macmanus of the Australian Cricket Team?

All we ever here about is how Peter Siddle will never let the team down, he'll be giving 100% 100% of the time.

Heard the commentators talking about his build and the fact that he's an honest trier, great, fan****ingtastic.

He cant bowl for shit. I can understand there is a need for stock bowlers but I havent seen him threaten a top order for over a year, if he were a first change bowler it might not be that big an issue.

But he's a battler, just like Macmanus was for Freo, top bloke gave 100% but just not good enough.

People are getting stuck into Hussey saying he's past it, he's proving them wrong, but the batting isnt an issue IMO. Our bowling bar Johnson is vanilla at present. I dont think he'll ever turn into a real wicket taker of note with the new ball.

Let's blood someone who gets some movement, a bit of bounce.

Pakis must be licking their lips at the prospect of facing him for another two tests.

That's a terrible thing to say about anyone.

I know, that's what I was going for.

Shock and Awe mother****er.

But really, he's so obviously inadequate for test match cricket.

new cricketer award says otherwise. icc award? he did win something like that.

it won't sound glowing, but i think he's adequate. his form is definitely letting him down at the moment, though. him getting in amongst the saffers was the reason we were competitive at home, and beat them in SA.

ICC Young Player of the Year award says otherwise.

He's going through a rough trot at the moment, he's also young, great pace, and plenty of room for improvement.

Will keep this thread open only if constructive critisism and discussion takes place otherwise it's lights out.

you're stupid right?

52 wickets in 14 tests at 30. Took 5-21 in the Ashes and has another 5 wicket haul also.

This is the guy that hit Ghambir in the head on a dead Indian pitch with his first ball in test cricket, when Ghambir was in the form of this life and you reckon he has no weapons, and is just a trier?

He's only just turned 25 too, just removed Yousuf and was touching the gun at 149kph today.

He has had only 30 or so first class games. How come we are more forgiving of a footballer based on lack of experience but Siddle is assumed to fully developed.

A lot of Siddles appeal is tactical anyway. He is a different bowler to his peers in that he brings the ball into the right hander as opposed to away. Also his effective short ball "softens" batsmen up for the other bowlers.

sick of the siddle bashing that goes on in here. He's playing for Australia so get over it. He's only 25 and has over 50 wickets allready. He keeps it tight on most occassions he just needs a bit of luck and he'll get a bag of wickets.

Come on surely you cant be serious!
He has not been 100% this summer but until then he has had a fantastic year. As distinct from MJ ( world cricketer of the year FFS) - you know what you are going to get from him.
He is just starting out and best of all, he is a Victorian. If was from NSW he would be vice captain by now.

All criticism of Victorian players is turned into NSW bitching...

There's only room for one of Siddle and Dougy in the team, I think Dougy is better, but, you know, I'm bias and stuff.

But to call him"the Shaun Macmanus of the Australian Cricket Team" is a bit over the top
