I know it's been done before but it's probably time to occasionly start afresh.

Who is pushing on the door of the Australian team.

I've not included injured players so ruled out, Lee, Clark, Hilfenhaus and Ferguson, Nannes (ATM) and Harwood.

C.Rogers - Vic
P.Hughes - NSW
S.Marsh - WA
M.Klinger - SA
U.Khawaja - NSW
D.Hussy - Vic
T.Paine - Tas
J.Kreja - Tas
B.Geeves - Tas
C.McKay - Vic
P.George - SA

12th Man: G.Bailey - Tas

Queensland will probably be pissed at me but if I was selecting the U 23 team you would probably have the pace bowling attack to that team to yourself, rebuilding up North and with the ball at least I can see some talent coming through.

I'll add the one day team to this after I've seen the initial rotation for the summer XI.

Now for the fun of it please argue with me.

Cameron White (C)

12th Man: Steven Smith

One Day
Phil Hughes
David Warner
Tim Paine (WK)
George Bailey (C)

Moises Henriques
Jason Krejza
Brett Geeves
Peter George
Dirk Nannes
12th Man: Adam Voges

Concentrated on youth for these teams and tried not to pick players that have basically cemented their spots in the Aus 1st XII teams such as Cameron White for the one day team.

I think Dave Warner could be a very good First Class/Test player if given opportunities at NSW. I wouldn't mind having a slogger in my team to up the scoring at times.

Also was a tough decision to not open with Paine in the One Day team as I thought Phil Hughes deserves his spot there and you need a Warner type to up the run rate.

cas79 good side but surely injured players such as nannes and harwood's time has passed for a baggy green.

the only critiscm i have of your team would be phil jaques, cam white and steve smith would be certain starters in a 2nd XI.

I would be selecting a deveoplment squadron. Not the players who are capable of playing at the moment but won't get a game or provide a future for Australia longer than three summers for various reasons ie age etc

So apologies to Geeves, Rogers, Jacques, Hussey, Rimmingon etc etc

Klinger has reached his peak. He will not get higher honours. Bookmark that one and come back at me in 5 years. He is simply not good enough and has zero scope for improvement.

Kidding, but I am surprised by the lack of X. Doherty in limited overs teams.

Bearing Australian 1st IX is, Katich, Watson, Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, North, Haddin, Johnson, Hauritz, Siddle, Bollinger ( 12man ), and injuries to Hilfenhaus and Ferguson, my 2nd IX team would be-

Phil Hughes- Needs to prove himself on wickets that offer a bit, bit of a flat track bully for mine.
Chris Rogers- Weight of runs have put him back in the frame, ala Katich.
Shaun Marsh- Very close, needs Ponting to drop down the order.
George Bailey- Ready made replacement for Clarke, if back doesn't hold up in the middle order.
Cameron White ( C )- Most experienced captain in domestic cricket, his batting continues to develop, needs to bowl more.
Andrew McDonald- Watson's form has squeezed him out, should have played in England, purely on his swing bowling.
Tim Paine- Won't be long before he takes over from Haddin.
Jason Krejza- Unluckiest player in Australia, all of a sudden we don't like attacking spinners.
Clint McKay- Didn't show much in Perth, but his domestic form has been impressive.
Brett Geeves- Like McKay, domestic form is good, but I reckon the window is starting to close on this fella.
Shaun Tait- Like Krejza, Ponting doesn't rate him, but this guy is amongst if not the most dangerous bowler in Australia.
Mitch Marsh ( 12th man )- Needs a season or two of sheild cricket first, but this guy could be anything.

I like your side Lethal but don't think Tait will play tests again.

When asked if he wanted to return to the longer form of the game, Tait said: "No, not at all."

Great Thread

Just watching some of the World Series Classics from afew years back where Australia played Australia A in the finals. The No.1 Team might have won and complained like stuck pigs about having to play the A team, but virtually all of the A team made it to international cricket and did well as a result, from memory the line up was

G Blewett
M Hayden
J Langer
D Martyn
M Bevan
R Ponting
P Emery
P Reiffell
S George
G Rowell
P McIntyre

I would like to see this again at some point.
