Cousins isn't the only captain that can gut-run
Darren Glass. One of the toughest defenders in the modern game and the man entrusted with the difficult task of leading West Coast through the worst period in its history.
Recruited from the Perth football club with pick 11 in the 1999 draft, his career got off to a less than auspicious start. He was already a good defender, but his decision making and disposal often left much to be desired, even costing West Coast a win against Fremantle.
However, with McIntosh getting older and his proposed replacement in Travis Gaspar perpetually injured, Glass was given the opportunity to hone his ability at the elite level. At the end of his debut season he was awarded with West Coast's 'Rookie of the Year' award.
He continued to impress(although still much maligned by supporters), and began to show signs of improvement in his disposal and decision making abilities; the man wasn't about to rest on his laurels.
He played a pivotal part in the 2005 and 2006 Grand Finals, holding Barry Hall to a collective two goals in both games(having averaged 3 goals a game in both years). In 2006 his efforts were rewarded with second place in West Coast's Fairest and Best award as well as his first All Australian selection at Full Back.

Glass uses his Kung Fu to keep Hall goaless
When West Coast's two former captains both exited the scene at the end of 2007, Glass was given the captaincy with Dean Cox as his second. 2008 as you all know wasterrible, with our stars injured and youngsters thrust into the side, which finished with four wins - our lowest since entering the competition.
However, in 2009 the team began to show improvement, with Glass leading the way. This year marks our next charge up the ladder, hopefully into the eight for the first time since 2007.

Glass gives Russell Robertson a taste of his own medicine
I'm not going to put any stats up, because that's not what Glass is about(except one-percenters), but you all know how great he is. Also he's lucky enough to share a birthday with me. No wonder he's so awesome.
