If it's hard supporting AUS these days, it's really, really hard to support Pakistan.
Those pics were brilliant though. :D

Are any of the Paki posters suggesting their team might be on the take?
I love how their posts is how many 'runs' they have scored and it's also got their wickets, not sure what thats for.
I went to sleep as soon as Hussey and Siddle were walking out to the crease.
Glad I had my sleep because Pakistan dissapointed all of us.
They simply flop it under pressure.
:D

Great all-round performance with the ball, and some fine top-order batting. Cameron the keeper sucks, but the rest of the team have spared his blushes. Well done, poyzzzzz.
1-1 going to Bellerive, who would have thought?
Love that one aswell, see what happens when your cocky?

Correct. Indian?
Being an Indian myself, I fully enjoy the discussions on Indian sites. Much more colorful than here.:D
Just like many of you are always ready to bag Ponting , Indians are always ready for Dhoni. Well it is nothing unusual. Ganguly once said, "If you are the captain of the Indian cricket team, either you will have gray hair or no hair." But with Dhoni discussions are much more interesting, there are some blind followers and some blind haters. I enjoy that a lot.
The nickname of Dhoni is Dhobi, which means laundryman in Hindi. :D

I just read on CricInfo (http://www.cricinfo.com/ausvpak09/content/story/442834.html) that Pakistan are rushing wicketkeeper/batsman Sarfraz Ahmed (http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/227760.html) over as a replacement for Kamran Akmal in the Hobart Test :p

If they're not smart enough to get on the opposition when their team is a monty to win, then its their own fault.

As cocky as they were I feel for them, I would have liked to see the series go to a decider in Hobart... I prefer to see contests over Australia domination, unfortunately the Paki's will implode in Hobart... it's incredibly difficult to come back from that.

Let's be honest, they had every right to be cocky. Australia were shizen for 75% of this match and pinched it.

There's some good reading on the site if you want more insight into Pakistani cricket. Overall I thought the tone was very reasonable.
This one about what they think of Test cricket was good too:

Exactly!!!
This is not the first time this has happened. It happens to us all the time, in fact. We have been snatching defeat from the jaws of victory for a very long time, against most teams.
Let's face it - we are just not very good as a team. We might have plenty of stars, but stars don't win matches on their own - teams do. We were pretty poor, as a team, through all of the 60s and 70s, and have been pretty poor for most of the 2000s - despite our galaxy of stars in the 1970s and to a lesser extent in the early 2000s. The 1980s and the 1990s were a wonderfully sweet aberration when we were actually a real team, or even when not a team, were fighters - that was because of Imran and the winning culture he created, not to mention the fast bowlers he brought along.
Once Imran's proteges retired (and Inzi was the last of them), the winning culture slowly but surely evaporated too and the fighting spirit has all but vanished. We simply don't know how to win, the odd flukes aside. T20 is okay, the game is so quick, it's over before we know it - we have little time to panic, to think about it. Our natural individual talent comes to the fore and a few moments of brilliance are all it takes; hence we are the most successful T20 team ever. In real cricket though, Tests or ODIs, when we do have time to think, to plan, to strategise.... we panic.
Against Australia in particular, we have a mental block which doesn't let us win. We all saw that in the ODIs against them at Sharjah last year - when everyone's favourite Super Men, aka Shahid Khan Afridi and Younis Khan, were equally clueless and pathetic. My theory on the origins of this mental block is that we were doing fine, and had no issues against them, till the fine morning of 22nd Nov 1999. We had them on the ropes in the Hobart Test, were very well placed to level the series at 1-1. Chasing 369, Aus were tottering at 126/5 when Ricky Ponting got out. We were on top, had our feet on their throat and all that remained between us and victory was the Aussie "tail".
Our attack had Wasim and Waqar and Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq. And even Azhar Mehmood for back-up vocals. We were led by the truly fearless, inspired and inspiring Wasim Akram. It was a team of fighters. Really, victory was gonna be easy as pie.
And then some relative newcomer to the Test arena; to many, an imposter as a wicket keeper who had stolen Healy's spot; a glorified slogger in the eyes of others.... came in and changed everything. Adam Gilchrist, in just his second Test, smashed a brilliant 149 not out, and in the process, destroyed our bowling attack and our confidence.
Since that day over ten years ago, we have never won a Test against Aus, and never really looked like winning one either. Today was the closest we have ever come.
Gilly went on to bigger and better things, and became the greatest wicket-keeper batsman of all time; we developed a fear of Australia that has grown and grown over time and extends to both Tests and ODIs.. it permeates our psyche and ensures that we often snatch defeat when its almost impossible to lose.
So no, returning to the topic - I will not be "giving up" on the team. No sir. I will watch the next match too, though we will probably lose. That is just the way things are. However, this is the only cricket team I have ever supported, and the only cricket team I will ever support. Wishing them well, wanting them to win, cheering them on, is all coded in my DNA... wanting them to lose is an emotion that is alien to me. Even if I wanted to (and I don't), I would never be able to wish my team to lose. It is MY team, after all.

And it will be interesting to see which one is going to be the Pakistani wicketkeeper on Thursday-Karman Akmal or Sarfraz Ahmed. Imagine the scenario-Australia win toss, bat first, and Karman Akmal is getting ready to be behind the stumps. Then Sarfraz Ahmed (the replacement sent by the Pakistan Cricket Board) turns up, says he'll be wicketkeeping, one thing leads to another, and then we have a punch-up at a Test match-and the Test hasn't started yet.
