It has been confirmed that Holly Valance will be taking over the role of Buffy when filming of the next series starts.

Very sad if true - But all the news reports I've read suggest that it has just been SPECULATION.
IMHO best to end the series on a "high" and just continue with the various spin-offs.
Bull.
Let's have a Willow or Dawn spin-off - who the hell wants to watch a show with Giles in it?

Sounds fantastic!!!
I hope Xander is staying

I have always wondered why when people make up rumours they don't at least try and make them slightly believable...
I doubt Joss would even demean the show by having her as an extra...

Hmm yes because the chance to be Buffy comes up all the time, an you can't act and sing at the same time
Obviously more talented than Jessica Alba

That's just the rumour - sourced from a British tabloid, and it couldn't even get the facts right (the seventh season it claims SMG turned down is on your TVs right now...).

If Gellar goes I hope to god she takes Willow with her

I doubt Joss even knows who she is?? It's not like any of her music is played in America and Neighbours certainly isnt on American TV.
It's disappointing for Buffy fans like myself that SMG is turning down a 7th season. :( I think she just wants to make movies now, not sure why as she hasnt exactly been a huge success in the movie business.
Ive heard rumors that the show will just plough on with Dawn taking over as the slayer. That wouldnt bother me that much just as long as all the primary characters stick around and the writing is as sharp as ever.

As mentioned before in this thread I reckon it'd be best to give the series a definite ending rather than dying off through bad ratings etc. One of the better written and produced TV shows to come out of the US in recent times.
I thought Buffy was ending because it was being cancelled? Not because of SMG wanting to do movies.

As far as I knew Buffy was ending because the producers decided to bring the show to an end. Apparently the had a cast party the other week but SMG wasn't there because she was filming Scooby Doo 2 in Hawaii?
I thought sarah didn't want to do the show anymore... and the producer said the series will be ending with a possible dawn series/spinoff later...

If Ho-lly Valance goes anywhere near that show I will give it up.
I'm a big fan at the moment (Spike a big factor) and will continue if Dawn and other characters stay, maybe even Faith but will drop it pretty quickly if it becomes lame.
