View Full Version : Please go easy on us...
It's a mercy plea from all here at Geelong for Brisbane to go easy on us...
We are disgraceful and you should belt us by 100+ pts, but at least let us score. :( ;)
Enjoy your percentage booster.
Don't come on here with your whimpering and pleading for mercy. Get a hold of yourself.:D
Now, what was I saying? That's right. Our major concern will not be some potential % boost. We'll be trying like hell to overcome yet another road trip and some indifferent form. Only reason we haven't whinged more so far this season, is that we haven't actually lost yet. Could we be due? Probably not, but I see this as a real danger one for us, despite our recent record at your dung hill. Could be a good 'un though.

Ha!
We're not falling for that old line. Geelong will come out breathing fire just like everyone else we have to play this season. The only reason we have not lost yet is because of our team's mental toughness and discipline.
The old "be merciful, we're so 'umble" routine. The Bullies tried that one last week.
A comfortable 20 point win will do me just fine.
As for percentage, who needs it? Now that we have had a draw, percentage is irrelevant.
A big blow for the Cats, with C.Ling out this week. He would have been the option to go with Voss for sure.
As arrogant as it may sound, I would be inclined to rest some of our players this week. Lynch is struggling and could do with either a rest or a week in the reserves. Brown is battling a hip complaint, and Leppitsch has been a bit off-colour.
Although taking 3 key-positional players out of the side does leave a few holes, we have the likes of Bradshaw, Morrison, Notting, Brennan and White who can make able replacements. Likewise, I wouldn't rate Geelong's tall players as being the main threat in the game (apart from S.King, who is the best ruckman going around by so far it isn't funny).
At any rate, even if we did lose the game due to resting a few players, it may prove better in the long run due to managing our players for whole-season results.

Could you rest all 22 that played against the Dogs ? ;)
At least we might have a chance.

The cats will come out firing. Don't think that they're good enough though. Ling out is a huge blow. Has to be closer than last year. I went to the game at KP last year and it was one of the biggest mis-matches I've ever seen in an AFL game. There were plenty of Lions fans at the game (I would say >5000K).
In Brown's audio interview on the Lions website he says how much he is looking forward to playing in Victoria again.... it's his "home" game.
Please wave to my mum in the Brownlow Stand!

Catman, Leeds and Geelong - hasn't been a good year. Lets hope that Leeds stay up and keep Harry. Couldn't stand him at MU or Arsenal (Chelsea on the otherhand...)

Not as big a blow as you think.
With Cam's dodgy ankle, he has become ineffective. His renowned tagging ability has gone, and his skills are shocking.
A fit Cam is as important a player as anyone at Geelong, but right now, he's a liability. The week off will do him good.
As for Voss. I hope we play Smithy on him, head to head. After the big bump that ruined Smithy's shoulder last season, i'm sure he'd want a chance to go one on one with the great one.
BTW If Geelong are sensible, we shouldn't be tagging anyone. Let's face it, we're going to get pumped anyway, so we may as well play attacking football.

Agreed 100%. Throw no caution to the wind... let's go for it, we have nothing to lose. :)
An even bigger loss has been Tom Harley-- his presence strengthens what we have in the back, and not having him for as little as a single game as of yet has torn our defence to tatters.
But defence, schefence... let's attack like crazy on Sunday and try and match the Lions goal for goal. :D
If it actually happens with any measure of success, I'll cack myself laughing. I know that we only have a chance of keeping the game close, at best.

anyways, because brizzie r playing away i dont think we will be complacent nor will we win by plenty
just because the cats have had a bad game doesnt mean they are pushover or the cats should be worrying yet!
GO BRIZZIE!

Whichever it is, let's just go for it. :D
By "hoping to keep it close", if we lose by less than 30, it's a moral victory for us, and it stymies the Lions' attempts at a percentage-boosting win.
Speaking of wind, that would take the wind out of the Lions' sails, methinks. :)

I was serious.
We will not come out breathing fire because we are a weak side, mentally and physically.
This is no danger game for you. It will be just a weekend training run.

Mate, its been a shocker. We still have 17 games to redeem ourselves but the Mighty Whites only have two. I hope we can stay up, too much quality at the club to go down and if we did it could be the end of the club, considering the massive debt.
I think it is inevitable that HK is gone, and like you I couldn't stand him at Man U. Anywhere but that sh.thole.

If the Bulldogs game is an indication of our current form as opposed to a rather complacent lazy effort then we do need to worry. It didn't appear that we ever shifted out of second gear. Leppa looked like he wanted to be anywhere but out on the field. No disrespect meant to the doggies but a much bigger margin should have been achieved.
I don't believe the Cats or Swans are any real threat to an in form and performing Lions, the only threat comes from within our own ranks.
I have been surprised by the cats poor start to the real season after their great second half against the lions in the wizard cup game in Cairns. Yeah sure we had a few out that night and it was only the wizard cup. Geelong are capable of a lot better than their recent efforts. I just hope they leave their return to form at least another week.
