Wimbledon Tennis Movie in production  : -

The tennis aces will find themselves sharing the limelight with stars from another world as production company Working Title, which made Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, starts work on a new film. Called Wimbledon, the film tells the story of a lowly British tennis player (Paul Bettany, from A Beautiful Mind) trying to win against the odds. After getting a wild card for Wimbledon, he falls for up-and-coming American tennis player Lizzie, played by Spiderman star Kirsten Dunst, who watched last year's tournament from the Royal box.

Anyone think that this movie will be any good? Sounds pretty b-grade to me

There's a tennis movie I've seen about an American kid trying to break onto the circuit. The end has him playing a satellite tournament final with masterful commentary from Fred Stolle.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I've seen a home made movie/documentary of these two American guys on tour. It was pretty classy, they were more interested touring around the world partying than playing tennis. They never really trained and most of the time they had trouble getting wildcards to play doubles. It is one of those shows that keeps popping up on late night tv but I can't remember the name of it.

One of my clients does that just that. Hack doubles player who has never been higher than 60 in rankings. Still has a fair chunk of cash, fancy car, St tropez digs etc. But I suspect they are more from "private lessons" and some biz activities. The stories he tells:eek:

Can you name names or does the 'privilege' come into play?

NB: I didn't use the quote function. :p

haha!!!...thanks for not quoting! t

Can't name him, but he is European (therefore a hack tennis player by default), and anymore would tell you who he is. He is a penny pincher when it counts b/c he does have any sponsor of note, so often turns right when he boards a plane. Turns over the games though, hence why he has $.

Break (1995)… Martin Sheen, Rae Dawn Chong, Vincent Van Patten, Valerie Perrine. A banned tennis pro must coach a teenager in order to make good on a gambling debt. ESPN tennis commentators Fred Stolle and Cliff Drysdale appear as themselves. [Van Patten, who also co-wrote the script, is a former tennis pro.

Yep seen it too. Pity there aren't more of these around by other players who are in the same position willing to dish dirt. Far more interesting than any Big Brother or Survivor show. It is true reality but within a completely artificial, self obsessed world.

Can't believe it's a real movie.

That home made movie/documentary, does one of the players play doubles with Ivanisevic in it?
