Anyone else seen it? Saw it last week and thought it was decent.

For those who haven't, no it's not a biopic on Leigh Brown. It's a documentary movie about a metal band who started out in the early 80's, were the influences for Metallica, Motorhead, Anthrax, Slayer, and a heap more bands who all went on to make it big while Anvil fell off the radar.
At first it feels like a Spinal Tap piss take type flick, but it's not. It's won critical appraise and a heap of awards all over the place. I'm yet to read a bad review about it. Definitely worth a look, even if you don't like metal.

The Michael Moore comment and the sappy dialogue/music in that clip were enough to put me off.

Yeah, very good doco. :thumbsu:

Well worth watching, even if not into metal.

The Michael Moore comment and the sappy dialogue/music in that clip were enough to put me off.

That's like saying you wont watch a movie because the dvd cover has quote from a certain film critic written on it.

What would you do if the dvd cover has the quote you from someone you dislike, but the blu-ray has a quote from someone you do like? :p

Yeah it was a while ago now but this was on one of the digital channels the other week. Recorded it and finally watched. Got to say really enjoyed it. Didn't know much about them as not a metal fan and didn't realise they were so well respected by other bands.

You get the feeling during the doco where you think "boys just give it up". You can see why they never made it, songs just weren't up to it. Ironic but not surprising that they finally found "fame" because of the doco.

Heard they have supported some big acts such as AC/DC.
Good on em.

Couldn't believe the drummer's name was Rob Reiner, same name as the guy who made Spinal Tap.
