Is it remotely possible that Ben could do a leigh whatshisname from North and renounce his captaincy and chase bigger coinage offered from another club??
Its unimaginable - but could it happen ??

Nope.
And you're thinking of the guy HG Nelson calls "Leigh Colbeahrrrrrr".
anythings possible i guess
all he needs to do is look at Colberts career and see how much good it did him leaving the Cats

I have checked The west Online, RealFooty at the Age, and the Eagles Website, and there is no word about this at all.
I haven't checked FootyGoss....Omygarsh, it's probably there!!!!!
:o
I don't think anyone could afford to entice him interstate - big $$$. Unless he went down to Freo
Why should he leave when he knows he is on the verge of 'something big' with the Eagles?
If he moves to Freo then his career is over - if he decided to move, it would be interstate IMO

It would almost be worth it to send him to Freo just to see the reaction of the Ferals on Dockerland.
Naaah!

Nah, why would he? West Coast is effectively his team at the moment. On field, off-field, in the media... he can basically do what he wants, and he can do it in a professional, supportive and reasonably successful environment. Oh yeah, and KJ's gone.

what happened to make this suggestion??
I dont think Cuz will leave - there really is no point. He is settled, and hes' going good. Anything could happen if he leaves

I think the real question is, does Cousins have the club loyalty, leadership and balls to take a pay-cut from his lucrative contract to ensure we get to keep Judd? It would effectively be asking him to play under his market value, but thems the responsibilities of a club captain.

if thats the issue then we would seem allirght, because captains will generally take a pay cut. If he doesn't then we have a decision to make, and I'm unsure as to which one I'd want. Too ahrd of a decision and one I hope we dont have to make :(

It was stated in the news article that West Coast were prepared to cut their playing list to keep Cousins, Wirrapunda, Judd and Matera. As there are 10 players whose contracts are up at the end of the season. This would probably mean having a list of 35 as opposed to 38. With the upcoming retirement of Milli and Peter Matera as well as the possibility that Jako could retire this would mean big bucks to keep these players. It was suggested that Cuz will be on 500 000 Wirra around the 400 000 and Juddy about 300-350 000 that is not forgetting that they get salaries for their promotion of companies such as Satterly and Just Spectacles and other endorsements.

There's no decision - If it came down to Cousins vs Judd, we would be crazy to sacrifice Cousins for a Victorian who could decide he's homesick and leave at any time down the track.
If we had to, I'd trade Judd in an instant if it mean't we kept the rest of the team intact.
The last thing we should do is what Freo had to do to keep Pavlich. If Freo are still kicking around the bottom half of the ladder in 2005, he'll be an Adelaide Crow in 2006.
Highly unlikely that he would leave. West Coast are on a good thing here and captaining a side to a premiership is just about as good as it gets and in the coming fews years he has a real shot at it!
I dont think it would bother him to much to take a pay cut because im sure he could easily make the money back with interest doing media work, endorsements etc. Perth has very few celebrities and Cousins is pretty much the top of the tree. If I had a company that was looking for a person to help sell my product, Cousins would come to mind first. He's on a good thing so it's very doubtful he would leave.
In fact lets just stop all this nonsence before I have a heart attack :D
IMO...with the retirment of Roo and probably Milli and maybe jako we will have plenty of money and should have the ability to pay everyone a decent salary provided we dont go paying any one player way too much! I dont think we'll lose anyone!
The salary of Roo and McIntosh will help in keeping Cousins and Judd at the club come years end
Also, Jakovich may go onto the veterans list come seasons end?? Not sure about that
