It started on Saturday in the USA. However, as the pilot episode was released on DVD back in April the first 'new' episode isn't until next Saturday :p
I was quite impressed with the tone of the pilot back in April so I'm looking forward it :thumbsu: Will watch the pilot again I think to refresh my memory :thumbsu:

was shocked when they blew up one of the main characters
is the version shown on TV different from the DVD pilot?
seemed to remember something about an edited version...
anyways was totally enthralled by the first episode....
I think I liked it even more than anything I saw on Galactica.

TV version is edited from the DVD version I think. DVD had nudity and throat cutting :p

I've watched all of season one bar the final episode. After a great pilot it seemed to wallow in unequaled dullness before picking up again with some great episodes in the latter half of the season. It's interesting to watch a grown man trying to piss off an electronic copy of his dead teenage daughter who is now trapped in a robot body.
There's not too much action in it, mostly romance, drug-taking and intrigue. I'm not too sold on their V-World/Matrix thing, though I guess without that the Adama plotline would be going nowhere. It just seems a little too Matrixy to me.
Anyone else downloading this?

Yep I've been watching. I don't want to give you any spoilers if you haven't watched the latest episode. There's heaps that happens all at once.
I didn't like New Cap City to begin with, too much of a matrix feel but nobody is really plugged in and gonna die, everybody is just using holobands.
I think it's funny what happens to nerd boy. I love that type of graphic scene. Really takes guts by the writers.

That's what happens when you date robots. It never works out.
The finale left a lot of things hanging; can't wait to find out who's actually dead.
I guessed that the woman from V-World was actually that blonde woman, but it doesn't make sense that she would get him hooked on amp & then complain about it.

Finally got around to getting up to date. Good stuff :thumbsu: The episode or two after the pilot were a bit drab but then it really picked up.
I'm guessing all the main characters will live. Zoe will live (would be a bit lame she didn't) and Amanda will survive her jump.
In Battlestar Galactica it was mentioned that Colonial technology regressed because of the Cylon war and the 'it could happen again' fear. It probably wasn't quite intended to do so but this series drives home that point. They have all this cool stuff in Caprica but Battlestar Galactica technology was like ours (with the obvious exception of routine space travel).
Edit: And I loved hearing the radar sound in the last couple episodes. That sound rocks! I must get that as my ringtone.
I thought the series got bogged down a bit at times. Especially with the Adama side plot. Hopefully it will all make sense down the track. But pretty well made, not fracan bad

I thought the Adama stuff was the more interesting plot.
The Clarice Willow stuff was more annoying.
yeah I have to agree the Clarice Willow sub plot was another annoying part of it. I guess I just want to see how the Cylons develop and not get bogged down in all this over emotive soap opera style drama
going to start DL'ing this when my bandwidth comes back Wednesday. huge fan of BSG.

Awesome news. 7mate is going to be airing episodes too.

....and will not be picked up for season 2.
They're trying to keep it under wraps saying they're giving extensions to the actors but I know that's just BS so you don't not watch the rest of the eps they have still to air.

Sauce or hunch?
Ratings in the US were not good for the first nine episodes, so you'd think they would have to improve substantially in order to justify another season.

Shite!! Have dloaded the first 9 eps, up to ep 4 watching. Not too bad atm. But if it going to be canned after 1 season it is almost not worth it....

I hate it how some of the best shows only get one season. Caprica is a class above V, IMHO, and should be picked up again.
The Caprica season 1.5 preview is up on YouTube and is pretty cool.

It's just a hunch.

It's not looking good because they said there would be a decision on a renewal on Aug 15th.
I think ratings will need to pick up much more than I expect for it to go to another season.
I like the show but it's a bit of a dead end being a prequal.

Anybody still watching??
I'm liking the darker side of Greystone.
Renewal decision now Nov 15th. Needs more ratings but they have a solid roadmap.

I'm watching.
Clarice Willow/Soldiers of the One stuff is by far the least entertaining part of the show.

It's an interesting show, but it sucks a bit how some of the peripheral characters have gone missing, either physically or emotionally; Joe and Sam Adama were key characters, but now they just seem to be there to drive the Graystone plot forward. Willie Adama and Grandma Adama simply aren't around.
The most interesting plot for me is the Amanda/Clarice relationship and how that will end up. Maybe Amanda will die - Clarice seems to enjoy offing people.
EDIT: This week's episode was great and dispelled all the complaints I made above. I love how Daniel has made his own Amanda avatar to talk to. The only problem I have with this ep is how easy it was for Sam to sneak a military robot out of Graystone Industries and use it to shoot up some gun traders.

Never had a chance.
Moved to Tuesday?? They wanted to kill it off.

It moved because Syfy picked up WWE SmackDown which airs on Fridays.
Stargate Universe was moved for the same reason.

The robot scene was awesome.
I really liked it.
Seems to me they have to put off the show to write the ending into it.
This is just another show that got hurt by the reality of massive production costs.
Just like Firely and Defying Gravity.
R.I.P. Science Fiction :(

SPACE (Canadian channel) is airing the remaining five episodes as normal so we don't have to wait until whenever Syfy airs the rest. Sadly though SPACE doesn't broadcast in high definition.

Episode 14 is up on The Pirate Bay.
And the bright spark who put it up decided to cut the top and bottom off the 4:3 broadcast, presumably to make it 'widescreen'. So the whole thing is in close up :thumbsd::rolleyes:

I watched it and the story has really gone downhill.
They have turned the STO from a religous order into a sicko cult.
The crooked cop was a boring twist.
Greystone has done nothing but whinge at the Amanda avatar while the real Amanda doesn't really seem motivated to take down Clarise.
I hope all those Halalfa mob guys get toasted. Only Sam seems to be the likable anymore.
Where's Zoe and Tamara??? I hate it how they phase the New Cap City in and out every 2 eps.
It's just all over the place. No wonder they axed it. Writers balls this up bigtime.

I'm glad they added that 'the future' stuff in the last five minutes of the final episode. I'm not sure if they'd finished filming before it was cancelled but if so it was nice of them to do that extra stuff to give the series a more complete feel :thumbsu:
Would have been nice to see it get another season and ideally have gotten better but that's television: things get cancelled.
Battlestar Galactica was better :p

Shooting people in the head with the cylons was a nice finish.
Well I liked it at least. :)
I notice they give Zoe skin. From what I've seen of BSG (half the first season) the cylons disappear and come back 40 years later with skin they create themselves.
Doesn't really matter but I think this could point to them making a new BSG in a "tweaked" universe.
I'm going to grind through watching BSG eventually.
