Yeah congratulations on your win.... sounded a good one from what I heard...
can I just ask a couple of completely non-leading questions, just for a bit of perspective....
What was the dicipline and aggression level like when Kenny was coaching your boys?
Was there much disharmony between players and coaching staff? I remember seeing footage of the Hawk players all linking arms and stuff like that, but was it always that way?
thanks... (and I dont mean anything with these questions, just curious! http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif )

EF, this is just my opinion and im sure other Hawks will disagree with me, i think in Kennys first few years the aggression and discipline were enormous, we were on the brink and Judge instilled a defensive aggression that got us through games, over a period of time though i believed his intense nature and defensive outlook worked against him when the team started to develop, there was heaps of rumours in the end of disharmony between certain players and Judgey, but there was also players such as Chick who loved the guy and his style. He came to Hawthorn at a time when we really needed someone to tighten us up, whether he could have changed his gameplan and made us a more attacking side is open to conjecture,. I dont believe he could. Anyway i was amused WC chased him so hard (when he still had a year to go on his contract) and perhaps he isnt the right choice for you guys, but time will tell. Cheers

Cheers Pessimistic! Your not so bad, as Hawthorn supporters go http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif
I'm stoked with the performance of Taylor and Collica so far this season. Taylor seems to be that extra midfielder who can actually kick goals we've been missing for the past few seasons while Collica should be handy in the backline.
I don't think we can ever get our hands on Daniel Chick (since most reports about his wife say she doesn't want to leave Melbourne) but I'd like to think that we might get a crack at Hay at the end of the season if we can throw enough money at him. Just wondering from a Hawthorn perspective, do you guys think Judge and German would try and go after any other players from the Hawks - did he have any 'pet' favorites?
I strongly doubt the Eagles have any chance of getting Hay - so give up hoping!
The hawks have bent over backwards to make sure Hay is happy at the club and happy in Melbourne - including allowing him an extended break during preseason to allow him to spend a few months in WA with his parents. Hay has reportedly said he became homesick for the Hawks and for Melbourne.
I think you may find that because we have such a tight bunch of youngsters at the club who have been together for a number of years, that the bond they have, along with the success which is coming Hawthorns way will be hard to break no matter how much money is thrown at them.
And from all reports, most of the players didnt reallly enjoy footy under Judge's coaching towards the end of his stay, so I can't see him wanting/ taking too many of them.

A lot of Hawthorn people expect Hay to be Hawthorn's top player in a year or so. The age tried to pigeonhole him as an 'athlete not footballer but he certainly handled Koutafides (is he a one season wonder, I wonder?) OK.
He shows a lot of poise and maturity. I wouldn't blame any club from trying to 'get' him but it rarely actually happens.

I think Hay has already proven that he's not a one season wonder. A lot of people in the media thought he performed as well as Fletcher (All Australian full back) last season. I know I rarely saw him beaten last season.

Hehe-that's what I was thinking
Poor old Kouta from hero to zero-actually I think you should give the bloke a chance he's coming back from injury & I've always rated him pretty highly.
