View Full Version : Why do wicket keepers wear long sleeves.
I've always wondered why do they were long sleeves.
probably because they're diving around so they don't want to take the skin off the elbows.It the same as a lot of fielders now wear those bandage looking things on both arms if they don't wear a long sleeve shirt.

I ask why Clarke is wearing those long sleeve compression tops when it is the mid 30's in Adelaide right now?
Keepers - looks more 'professional'.
Clarke - he had a skin cancer scare a few years back ever since he has worn long sleeve uniform when fielding (not 100%) plus he fields in the cover / point area alot of diving involved

What nicko99 said, but also you can get those compression tops that actually cools your body temp down, rather then warm it up.

He only started to not wear a hat when Lara came along. Im tipping that he is so whipped that he has taken it seriously when she told him not to wear one:D

Ive only noticed he doesnt wear a hat when fielding at night...theres no point wearing one at night. He did wear a hat during the Adelaide game along with sunglasses
Because we keepers have a code, a part of that code is to not look like a muppet.

This is true.
If you want to look like the nuffiest keeper ever then wear short sleeves, a floppy hat and batting pads. And don't crouch. Try to stop any half volleys with your pads. And when you pass the ball back around the field roll it along the ground.

Was about to say 2 things that have already been posted, why would Clarke wear a long sleeve shirt when he doesn't wear a hat, and you can get Skins Ice (theres probably an Adidas one aswell) that cools you down instead.
