I seem to recall you being a fan of his so I wonder what you think about the decision to delist him.

From what I saw of him playing for Williamstown this year, he seemed be quick, had lots of courage and used the ball quite well.

My Mum is a big dogs fan and is pretty annoyed at the news.

To be totally honest, I wouldn't be too unhappy if we drafted him with one of our latter selections in the draft.

What do you and all the dogs fans in here think about Plunkett as a player and should he have been delisted?

In one word Sainter- SHATTERED!!!

OK- time for more words....

I didn't include him in my fave player topic b/c I felt no one would know of him- but he was definitely right up there with Kretiuk. But the jinx continues http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/frown.gif.

He got second in the VFL "Brownlow" (I don't know what its called) playing with Willi, even though he played about 6 games for the seniors. He would definitely be in my best 22 at the club, ahead of an unamed player whose name begins with J and ends in Ose Romero.

Even as a back pocket he is smarter, taller, quicker than Contessa, and although Contessa is a tough nut, don't be fooled, Plunkett has unbelievable poise and strength for a boy of his size/build. Wallace chose two players to really develop in the seniors this year, and along with Cox, Contessa edged Jim out and this has ultimately brought about his downfall..... despite Terry's insistance that youngsters play 782 games in the ressies..... which Jim/Adam/Simon were on their way to completing.

Wallace played Plunkett for four quarters as an onballer against West Coast in the Ansett Cup, and he was the best player on the gorund for us. Whenever recalled to the seniors during the year, Terry gave him at most, a quarter on the field..... then proceeded to drag him no matter how great he played. he had one shocker agaisnt Port, but other than that I percieved him to be so effective and a top talent- yet he's gone http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/frown.gif.

At worst I thought he would be kept in the ressies until Jose/Libba retired, but as this news has proven, I was wrong.

He's 21/22, and most probably will improve significantly in the next couple of years and I sincerly hope a team like the saints pick him up and utilise this fantastic talent. Although I have a feeling he might be going to Collingwood http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/mad.gif.... in which case i say... "break a leg Jim" http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif. Seriously, along with Mark West, I wish him all the best.

I'm pretty upset about losing Jimmy. He's intelligent, creative and cool under pressure and played a crucial part in our win over the Roos this year, clearing the ball from the pack to Johnno on the lead in the last q. He copped a bit of punishment from Essendon, after Sheedy announced he wouldn't play one of his junior players because of our so-called rough tactics. Talk about hypocrisy!! But it never worried Jimmy.
Good luck to him, whichever club picks him up won't be sorry, but we will http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/frown.gif

I'm pretty disappointed about them delisting Jimmy Plunkett. I thought he was a pretty good player http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/mad.gif I don't really see the point. IT'S NOT FAIR. I don't like it when GOOD players have to leave eg POWELL http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/mad.gif

JUBJUB,
If you're being serious (I don't know with you- you could be having a go at me for all i know http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif), I don't know who your talking about. But i'm not suprised that supporters of other clubs being impressed by him. Not many people have seen him in action.... that's why he's a relative no-name..... but if you do see him.... you'll know why i'm such a fan of his.
And BTW- on the rumour file at the AFL site, apparently Thompson is VERY impressed by Jimmy, and it looks like you might be picking him up.

I am not that happy that Jimmy has gone either. I used to watch him in the reserves and admired the way he went in for the ball......he's a real goer. I hope he gets another chance to play AFL footy.
