Just got this from the Afl site

LIONS:-
B: Chris Johnson, Mal Michael, Chris Scott
HB: Marcus Ashcroft, Justin Leppitsch, Brad Scott
C: Luke Power, Michael Voss, Tim Notting
HF: Shaun Hart, Darryl White, Nigel Lappin
F: Craig McRae, Alastair Lynch, Daniel Bradshaw
R: Jamie Charman, Simon Black, Jason Akermanis
INT (from): Jared Brennan, Beau McDonald, Ashley McGrath, Blake Caracella, Robbie Copeland, Shane Morrison, Martin Pike

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't rest Leppitsch and Chris Scott.

Maybe they'll turn out to be late withdrawals.

IMO, this would be preferable to risking them playing under injury clouds at this point of the season.

Without wanting to sound "arrogant", I believe we can afford to risk a loss to ensure that Leppa and Scotty are 100% for next week's game against the Crows at the Gabba.

We have had the toughest of draws in the first 7 Rounds, having played Essendon, Collingwood and Port as well as having to endure back to back road trips twice.

We have done admirably well and I'm sure the coaching staff would have been more than pleased to have taken 5 and a half wins out of six under the belt, when the draw was first announced.

Moreover, after this game against the Swans, we have 9 games out of 15 remaining at the Gabba. With a fit and healthy list, we should be looking good for a top 2 finish.

We are a win and a half clear of the field and I believe now is the time to test some of the "second tier" players as well as easing Lynchy and Beau back into the fold. Also let's see what Caracella, Morrison and Robbie Copeland have to offer.

I hope Leppa and Chris DO turn out to be "late withdrawals".

Whilst we are a proud side, a loss would not be the end of the world if it means a couple of our injury suspect players get a rest, whilst at the same time giving a few of the "fringe" players an opportunity to show what they've got.

Copeland is in to replace Chris Scott if he is a late withdrawal.

Leppitsch I don't want to play and Caracella will go in the squad instead of Leppitsch as we don't need another tall. White and Pike can alternate CHB and CHF roles.

Hmm. I have mixed feelings on the Leppa/Scotty issue. Whilst I would like to give them an extra week to ensure their injuries are healed and therefore primed for future rounds.... I am too darn competitive to even give the Swans a teeny tiny bit of a perceived 'edge'!.....

so, basically, I'll be somewhat happy either way! :D

Mr Ripper's lovechild Shane Morrison would have to be a pretty good chance this week in the absense of Brown. Must admit I too have been impressed with Morro from his limited appearances this year.

The return of the old Lynch/Bradshaw combination is a bit of a concern..........Leigh's been running with it for a few years now, and it has rarely worked......bit like the Roach/Taylor 2 pronged attack at Richmond.

How many flags did the Tiges win with that setup Mav.?

I reckon the Lych/Bradshaw combo has worked a bit better than you think.

That's because they are better players than Roach/Taylor.

And Matthews is a better coach than whoever was coach at Tigerland that many moons ago

:D

I see where you are coming from and like you, I would hate to see us give a sucker an even break.

However, it IS a long season.

Luthors, the reason the Lions have won back to back is not due to the 2 pronged attack of Bradshaw/Lynch.

2001 GF....Bradshaw had about 1 touch.

2002 GF....Bradshaw had a few beers and pies in front of the TV.

Well it did work then.

While Braddy was having a few Pies, Lynchy was making the Pies eat humble pie

:D ;)

The SCG is a CHF's graveyard, so even if Morro does play, I wouldn't expect the world of him.

Nice to see you agree with me regarding Number 35's form, Mavoso.

Oh really?! Why so?

Let's not forget that both Roach and Taylor kicked over 500 career goals. Both kicked over 100 goals in a season, and both were Coleman medallists on at least one occasion.

Let's not forget that a GF can only be won if you get there in the first place.

Both Bradshaw and Lynch have contributed significantly to this goal over the last two seasons.

good to see morro in
very good to see that bushie is in....
now only shatts to go.....
hope that those boys do get a run

leppa shouldnt play - anyone knows that he isnt right & they may as well let him have a lil bit of time off (same as the wild man chris) though i too would like to see us really wipe a team off (not that the swans will be a roll over i dont imagine)

but as we all say - when was the last time that we really burried a team????? too long ago

Common sense should have Leppa and Scott out.Give them the week to recover fully for the Adelaide match.

Have Lynch stay home, why risk him travelling this week.

Yes, agree!!

:p Ahh, no - don't agree - Lynchy gives me hope that "an oldie (but a goodie)" is still able to trade it with the young'uns. A hope for all the aging footy fans out there (inc. me!). He needs the run, too.:p

Quick question, how good is Morro's endurance?

If it is of a reasonable standard then I would give him the job of chasing Goodes for the day. Daryl White doesn't have the endurance and Brennan would be the only other option. Goodes is the only match up concern I have and if Leppitsch is dodgy then Morrison should be given the opportunity!

I agree that you dont agree :p Lynchy is living proof that you cant keep a good man down & swannies defence dont have any1 to match on the great one :D

ive got a lucky break thax to chanell eddie - in Adelaide we get the 1st half live, go to the port game :( and see the 2nd half replay after that game

btw - luv the actvar (i need a better 1 :()

May aswell give him the 3 Brownlow votes then.

Depends where Goodes plays. If Goodes plays at CHF.

Morrison - Definately No

Leppitsch - Maybe
White - Maybe
Pike - Maybe

Brennan - Yes
Michael - Yes

Leppitsch on Barry Hall if Leppa plays. Michael to start on Goodes.

Leppitsch doesn't play, Michael on Hall and Brennan on Goodes. Brennan stitched up Tarrant, Brennan will match well on Goodes.

If Goodes is in Ruck, no need to worry about a matchup.

Id like to see Brennan on Goodes. See what Brennan can do having to run all day, all over the ground against a top opponent instead of sitting in the goal square like he has in past matches.
IMHO Goodes will carve it up, but im tipping lions by 34

The way some of you guys are talking, resting Lynchy, Leppa, Scott and giving Morrison a chance we may as well give Sydney the 4 points now.

Sydney in Sydney is as dangerous as Adelaide and don't be mistaken about it. Goodes at CHF has to be taken by Leppa (if he plays) or Brennan. Mal Michael as good as he is, is not up to taking on Goodes across CHB because he just can't run with the guy all day.
