View Full Version : Voting Round 7 Vs Geelong
Belgarion

Phew, it was a bit scarey. The cats played really well and won most of the centre clearances, but at the end we got the 4 points.
5. Chick
4. Fletcher
3. Gardiner
2. Matera
1. Banfield
We're really missing the Dash from Wirrpunda from the backline and the hardness of Kerr in the middle. I hope they're back next week.

2. Judd
I thought Judd was pretty average today...actually he was poor
He didn't chase his man and just looked disinterested - needs to learn to run when the opposition has the ball and also to tackle
That's your opinion cheesecake, i thought he sparked us when we needed it, and gave class to a game that at times was scrappy, he had almost 20 possies and kicked a vital goal.
Most players had periods when they looked good and others when they looked tired. I guess two away games and a derby combined with a warm and humid day took it's toll.

5: Fletcher - Played really well in the middle, and even got a few kicks with his right leg :o
4: Chick - Loved his intensity, real class act. Worth the #8 draft pick we gave up
3: Embley - Solid all day
2: Judd - Lifted in final qtr when the game was there to be won
1: Milli - Did really well in defence, i can't believe i wanted him to retire end of last season
Carn the eagles!

1. McIntosh
5. Chick- Came through great guns in the final quarter, did a huge amount of hard work. His leadership is unbelievable.
4. Fletcher- Another huge game from him- back to second place on the AFL total disposals rankings.
3.Embley- Ran till he dropped, took a blinder of a mark, set up a couple of goals.
2.Jakovich- masterful effort at CHF. Seems to love having the freedom to go find the ball, and have a defender worry about him for a change- about the only CHB in the league who might have the strength to match up on Jako would be, well, Jako.
1.Green- Strong in defence, two crunch time goals when the game was on the line
Apologies to Milli, Sampi, the Juddster and Gardie. Would also have loved to give Trent Carroll votes, on the basis that he played one of his rare 'did not suck' games.

sorry mate, I couldn't let this one slip. we're all mates here and we all have a common aim - to see the Eagles get to the top.
Some people have their own opinions and you've gotta let them have it, but when they don't share your opinion, don't get all defensive like that.
as for my votes, i'll do them when i see the game.

5. Fletcher
4. Embley
3. McIntosh
2. Chick
1. Carroll
5. Fletcher - IMO was the only 4 quarter performance in front of CHB.
4. McIntosh - led a beseiged backline with a strong performance
3. Carroll* - made a couple of mistakes but held it together well under intense pressure
2. Chick - Was the urgent spark we needed to get on top. Superb last quarter
1. Banfield - Pretty good performance all round given the pressure.
IMO our backline won the game for us. With the midfield being thumped, the pressure down back was immense, and a few mistakes from any backman can be excused given how many times the ball came their way.
Kasey Green probably deserved a vote, and Judd's last quarter was brilliant (Chick's was better though). Embley was also solid all day. Thought Adkins looked dangerous as well until he went off, and you can't get votes for a cameo...
*There you go Mead - Carroll got some votes at least. I would at this point like to mention that these votes have nothing to do with Carroll being my "adopted player" for the year

Will vote tomorrow but Im pretty sure my 5 votes will go to Sampi's hair. :D

3. Carroll
2. Green
1. Fletcher
5. Fletcher - Excellent game - best midfielder by a mile
4. Milli - I hope he marries soon and has lots of sons! We would have been in big trouble the last two weeks without Ash.
3. Jako - Great game whether forward or back. Inspirational leader
2. Chicky - Another great game from my new favourite player. His last quarter was one of the reasons we lifted.
1. Green - Kasey has come of age. Played strongly in the backline and kicked two terrific goals on the last quarter. I must admit I ws not too confident when he took the kicks!

Did you go to the game? Judd was poor - his opponent Joel Corey was one of if not Geelong's best. Eagles' suppporters seem to think Judd is so damn good - don't get me wrong he has been playing pretty well lately and for a second year player he is doing superb - but his game yesterday was poor and he showed no respect to his opponent - who well and truly beat him.

But they would probably all have dickie knees, like milli and his old man. On a side note, milli asked my sister out in a nightclub about 6-7 years ago and she said no. She reckoned she didn't know who he was until later  Would have been cool to have an Eagle in the family...

5 - Banfield - 200 games and I'm a sentimentalist - no, really, apart from one OOF I don't think he made a mistake under enormous pressure and was hugely constructive - and kept the dangerous Ablett under control
4 - Fletcher - only midfielder to win his position and kept us in the game at times
3 - McIntosh - outstanding display at the back under pressure
2 - Embley - fumbled early, but seemed to rise when needed to make a contest and played like a midfielder
1 - Gardiner - manful performance against 2 opponents, with little support, not his fault the midfielders were thrashed
Chick & Judd were brilliant in patches only and I couldn't fit them into the votes on reflection. Green nearly got a vote with his goals and Sampi is an excitement machine, but cost us that goal when he didn't go for the ball (left it for the weary Cousins) and should have goaled instead of shepherding for Jako. Carroll did quite well too.
Real character win. My heart isn't going to take much more of this.

He may not have had his best game, but to say he was poor is a bit of an overstatement.
Yeh Corey had a lot of footy, but did he really damage us with it?
Judd may have only had 10 possies less than Corey, but he was far more damaging than him.
The amount of times he ran the ball out of defence when we struggled to get clean hands on it was awesome.
When we needed a lift near the end he provided with a great goal that won us the game.
His last quarter was outstanding and showed his ability yet again to turn it on when it's most necessary.
2 votes in my mind was deserved.

Vicki voted for him too!
He had 13 possesions and he took 6 marks! Not a bad effort imo! Plus he displayed some leadership skills when they were needed the most! ;) :D

Have a close look at your votes, specifically 3 and 1.
5. Chick - praise the lord for him, he did virtually all the grunt work in the middle, and when the game is on the line, there was no better player.
4. Fletcher - Others were arguing about what Corey did against Judd, well, the reason I didn't give Fletch 5 was that Johnson, three times kicked uncontested goals.
3. Judd - When the game was on the line, there was only one better player. The game had to be won, and the cream rose to the top. For my two cents, yes he has to work on the defensive side of the game, but boy, I'd be more worried about Corey's defensive side of his game given the last 30 minutes, care to disagree?
2. McIntosh - held the back line together, big job next week.
1. Banfield - history will show that his job on Ablett jnr was a top effort.
3. Judd - When the game was on the line, there was only one better player. The game had to be won, and the cream rose to the top. Votes very spread out this week - Jod can you do a table with the votes just for the last game. I think they would've been the closest they have been for any of the games this year.

I post up the votes for each round individually with the leaderboard each week. Looks like someone isnt even looking at the leaderboard :D
Im almost the late person this week :D
5 - Fletcher - just got a ton of the ball and he kept our midfield a float. Had he not got so much of the ball we may have lost because our midfield recieved a spanking.
4 - Chick - justs get's in there and does the hard stuff. Another fantastic 4 quarter effort and am now extremely happy we got him instead of Headland (Judd/Polack ring a bell) Thanks Whoosha.
3 - McIntosh - who honestly said he should have retired before the start of the season. Fools you were...ALL OF YOU!! :D Even if his knees give way now and cant play out the season, he has already being a big reason in 2 or 3 WC wins.
2 - Green - was pretty good down back and then when shifted up forward was vital in the last quarter. He kicked two absolute pressure goals which gave us the lead. He stood pretty tall in the last quarter.
1 - Banfield - played a Wirrpundaesque type game down back, mopping everything up in a besieged backline. Held together well but im sure he will welcome back Wirrpunda hopefully this weekend.
Apologies to Jako who was good at both ends of the ground, Embers who continues to have his break out year, Sampi, Gardiner and Carroll all deserve a mention too.
