View Full Version : Essendon v Sydney live updates by Mad Bomber Sean
We have about two hours until the first bounce and as far as I am aware Gumby has not:
Torn a hamstring getting off the plane
Broke a leg getting hit by a crazed grandma and her shopping cart
Been abducted by aliens for 'probing'
Run into Chuck Norris
And this doesn't even include the potentially weird things that could happen to him

Let's just hope that tonight isnt the night that the ticking time bomb, BBBBradshaw implodes and takes it out on Gumby. Also hope the swans guys all go easy on the handshake :(

Well if that's going to happen, Bradshaw will have to do it from the other side of the fence. ;)

Better add that to the list, assaulted by non-competing player....

Ok so i am sitting at Blacktown now having watched most of our squad have a kick round the oval, two noticable abscences are Gumby & Dempsey.
Althoug still a bit over an hour before the game, i am surprised he has not been onto the ground yet.

Ok, now, lets agree as a forum that we do not make this a lose-lose scenario for the club.
They are playing Gumby, its the right thing to do. If he gets injured, it is not Knights fault etc etc etc

Looking forward to Gumby! FWIW, the report I saw of the match at Blacktown last week mentioned that the ground was in excellent condition, so hopefully Gumby's able to keep everything in tact without the surface shifting underneath him.
BTW, anyone know where I can catch a radio stream, or whether the efc site is carrying live updates. There's no indication on the site :thumbsd:

Pretty sure the EFC site will have the live scores and text commentary updates. Doubt we'll get radio coverage as they'd all be covering the Saints Freo game.

Guys the ground is in absolutely perfect condition for league footy. Looks vastly superior to the Dome's current state. A deep blue sky, not a puff of wind or drop of rain around ib Blacktown.
Just saw a very fit & nervous Gumby marking the ball on the lead in the pregame warm ups, one grab mark at pace & kicking very well - no hint of his recent back problems.
We are actually lucky that the Challenge game is up there, if we were playing it in Melbourne the storm would most likely have caused Gumby's back to collapse.

Make sure you take photos it could be the last time gumbleton is on the ground for an afl match.

In defence we have
Midfield laycock, prizza, Zaha & no 40? Houli as centre.
Reimers & Davey on the Wing.

Magdilini is too fat/ unfit / slow to play at this level IMO. He can tackle. But is really just a 50/50 player . He gave away a free which just cost us a goal

I no we didn't kick a goal but 13 points down at 1/4 time isn't that bad
Indeed. Lets all remember that we left what would virtually be our starting 22 in Melbourne, save for those that need a run. It's all about getting games into guys and seeing what they can do.

6 Mar 2010, 17:33
Qrt just finished, we played a tough, in close
messy sort of game without much fluidity. But we managed to prevent the Swans from running away with the game who dominated early. We were getting killed in the centre until Bellchambers , Prizza & Houli started to work togwther in the middle.
At HB NLM, Myers & Dempsey have all looked good. Our fwds are non exostant. No marking targets. Gumby did little, but is not injured : )
laycock look better as the qrt wore on, our runners are dping ok. Our kiking has been terrible. Cheers

6 Mar 2010, 18:18
Half time.
Despite a promising start that qrt, we got punished on the score board.
Positives. Davey was good Vs Kennelly - tackled, chased harrased & worked hard.
Gumby, took 2 Marks, one leading out from FF looking composed & comfortable, even had a kick on goal that missed to the left. Also had a go at a few contested marks without too much hesitation. Dont think that he'll need to much footy to become a decent contributor x the fwd line.
Melk did some good things playing on both Lewis Jetta then Kirky, Won the ball a few times & got some handy touches, uses the ball well, like his kicking. Good skills, calm & fast. Should play at least 10+ games this year.
Houli, got a heap of it & used it very well so far including an excellent kick at goal from just insife the 50. He has been playing in the middle (1st qrt) then x HB & swithing to HF in the 2nd. Kicked the ball well, put himself in the right positon & even bumpbed an older Swans player in a contested ball struggle.
Laycock has thrown his body round more than ever. Looked better as a target in fwd 50 than as ruckman. He is eager to get into the contest although his effectiveness is still fairly low.
Dempsey has been very good, as has Prizza ( some good hard ball stuff), Mcveigh & NLM have also been good.
Myers was ok in the 1st playing x HB, but got towled up by Goodes who domknated that qrt until he was replaced by NLM. NLM managed to more than tame Goodes i thought.
Howlett has been OK. No 34 took a screamer.
Dyson has been ok.
We really miss our key backs, but cinsidering the team we have on the park I am actually surprised we are going OK.
