Moviegoer stabbed in the neck with meat thermometer after asking woman to turn off phone

"A MAN was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer after he asked a woman to turn off her mobile phone at a cinema in Lancaster, Los Angeles. He was apparently attacked by the woman's boyfriend, who grew enraged at the request."

I hate it when people talk, eat or have the phones on during a movie.

The whole movie experience is marred these days with people failing to display any etiquette.

The best case scenario is to either watch a movie where it is packed (generally people realise they will piss off a lot of people) or watch a movie towards the end of its screening where almost no one is in the audience.

Its in America, I would have the death penalty for those guilty above and use it as an example to shut the **** up during a movie. lol :p

Why the **** would someone have a meat thermometer in a cinema anyway?

It's no surprise why piracy is so rampant. For me this the main reason I can't be arsed with the cinema any more. Every ****ing 5 seconds a seat around the theatre seems to light up.

Does some **** really need to get on facebook and tell their knuckledragging friends "i'm watching avatar right now!"

It basically renders every flick at night unwatchable because there's hordes of ****wits in the place after work or school. If you can actually find the time, it's usually on the last day - during the day, when no one is around, that you can watch something without being bothered.

Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction.

Very, very true.

When I was in America, I was flabbergasted to witness a woman sitting right next to me (was a packed cinema), answer a call and proceed to have a conversation- luckily I didnt say anything or I might have gotten stabbed.

Only in America, like someone said before, yes. And hopefully it bloody well stays in America.

Yup, this is what I do too. I'm more a fan of waiting till the end of the run tho. There's nothing better than having a whole cinema to yourself (yet at the same time be a bit creepy)... to guarantee no interruptions. :thumbsu:

I remember watching Snow Dogs in Wichita, Kansas with my kids a few years back. The most disturbing thing that people had in the cinema were large pickles on sticks that were sold in the foyer !

I have been lucky with movies lately with people not talking. I think the art house movie crowd have better etiquette. (Yes, I know Snow Dogs was not art house !)

I think the movie too that you're watching has alot to do with it too, rather than the type of cinema.

For example:

- The Hurt Locker, Melbourne Central, last weekend: not a sound.
- Up in the Air, Cinema Nova, few weeks ago: not a sound.

- Paranormal Activity, Highpoint, couple months ago(?): complete mayhem, unnessesary screaming/yelling, constant talking, particulalry this drivel from a bitch behind me who thought it was her god given duty to commentate the film

- Disturbia, Highpoint, a long time ago: again more fun mayhem. Ended up demanding a refund, which I got. :thumbsu:

My closest cinema is generally a ghost town, it's either the movies that i see (eg: The Dark Knight, Terminator 3, Spider-man 2 & 3, ... or the times i go and see them. I've even gambled and gone to see certain movies during school holiday periods.... yet the cinema would be borderline empty (5 - 12 people at the most). In any case, i am wondering how or why Village would keep it open, if it doesn't get large crowds in regularly.

Village Cinemas @ Knox City is the polar opposite, down right rude and disrespectful cinema goers up that way.

It should be illegal for people to laugh at comedies in the movie theatre.

Tight ass Tuesday:thumbsu:

Used to go all the time a couple of years ago. Rarely more than 10 people in the cinema. Even on the first Tuesday after a big release there'd be barely a soul there.

lol after what happened you would think twice now doing that.

It just shits me that people do this at movies.

It should be like a ****in library when you watch a movie IMO.

The whole beauty is listening and viewing it in its entirety.

With that said though and earlier post was nail, hammer, head.

It really does depend on the movie to some extent.
